    Dell E151FP ~ Blues/Greens come & go

When I got this Dell E151FP LCD (used) all the colors were fine. Now the blues and greens are out most of the time, leaving only reds. But some times the blues come back in for a few minutes or hours. And sometimes all three colors are working.

Is there possibly a loose connection or something? I've never had a monitor that did this before.

I suggest taking it apart and seeing if you have any visibly bad caps on the boards. If you need more help,

edit: Post clear focused pictures (top down, both sides - all boards) after reading

for what I mean by top down, both sides.

You will get better pics if you take the boards to a window on a sunny day and put your camera on macro mode.

Try running this with a fan blowing on the back to cool it down. If that works for a few days, then you know something is overheating. This could be bad/poor solder joints or a chip overheating.

I don't think heat is an issue. Its usually all red when I turn it on, and then the other two colors may or may not come on during the time that the monitor is on.

Red or pink is usually a possible sign that the one or more of the CCFLs are dying.

How old is this monitor and how much is it used?

edit: Or the main video logic chip is dying. See

With the monitor off, have you tried reseating the cable(s) on the logic/video boards at both ends?

Upon further examination, it looks like the power board was recapped with general purpose caps instead of low-esr ones. The Nichicons are general purpose VR series rated at 85 deg C. The green Lelons are RGA series, which I believe are also general purpose. Maybe a potential cause of the problem?

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                    by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

                    by F R 2568
                    Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

                    The power/battery...

                    Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
                    by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

                    Dell 5410 greyed out BT
                    by OntarioTL
Well I've learned something new today. Of all the Dell laptops I've come across I have never seen bluetooth greyed out, and only to learn this is during the build from Dell factory. I've tried to pull the original BIOS and fix with another dell with the same issue on the forums, however the original was not recovered from the forum upgrade so I cannot do a comparison to attempt the fix on my own.

If someone could help me out with this unit and I'll try the next one as so far I have 2 on my desk with this issue. Thanks in advance!

Dell G5 SE 5505 - "Invalid memory installed" after BIOS update.
                    by lalle-
                    Hello!

I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www...
