    Theoretical Question

I have a LCD monitor that would cycle thru the normal boot sequence then restart itself over and over. I suspected the logic board and switch it with one that I knew was good. Operation was then normal. I reinstalled the suspect board and now the LCD is operating correctly. My question is what could have happened that corrected the problem? Any and all theories please.

    Re: Theoretical Question

OK, OK, ..... I'll take the first guess at it. I'm putting my reputation on the line by sticking my neck out like this. I beleive your problem may be caused by little green men, some call them gremlins.

No seriously, my guess would be that maybe something wasnt secure and when you reseated every connector by removing and replacing, you fixed the problem. Just a guess but... it's happened to me before. Not same symptoms or equipment but, it happens!

    Congrats on the fix! lol

      Macbook A2179 820-01958
      by Instafixx
      Hi,
Have a Macbook A2179 with liquid damage. Customer showed it some shop which has done an ultrasonic cleaning of the board.
The board pulls 0V but doesnt turn on. No Fan SPIN. NOT IN DFU.

I checked the Power Sequences below and found this -

Once a valid external power source (Charger or battery) is connected, the following rails will come online.
PPBUS_G3H: Normal voltage is ~12.6v on the charger with the battery disconnected. Produced from the ISL9240 (U7000, which uses PPDCIN_G3H as its VIN.
PP3v3_G3H_RTC: Normal voltage is ~3.3v. Produced...

      ThinkPad T490 20N2000CSC NM-B901 no signs of life - short on 5V SMPS, ThinkEngine-3 hot - *speculations*
      by feliks912
      Attached schematic 🙂.

Laptop gives no signs of life. No fan and no CPU heat.

Think Engine BD4179MWV is hot on plugging in *AND* pressing the power button.

Discovered short to ground on VCC5M power delivery IC NB690GRP (5 volt line, not the high current VCC5M_PD) which is one of the ways that chip is powered. I'm puzzled.

Nothing else is warm on the board. CPU resistances are OK, 9V VSYS line is present from the BMIC. All misc and cables are disconnected.

What do you guys think happened? I've got two theories:

      If the...

HP Power Supply 6632A: Fast Mode vs Normal Mode?
      by cook
      FAST MODE vs NORMAL MODE

I have recently acquired a HP 6632A DC power supply. I am just beginning to use it and I have been reading the manuals for it. It is the first power supply I have ever owned or used. I am a very beginner hobbyist and do not have an engineering background, as may be obvious by my question...

I can't seem to understand what the actual use is for the 'Fast Mode' or the 'Normal Mode' on the power supply. Although the manual states what the two modes do from a engineering/technical standpoint, I don't know enough to understand what it all means,...

Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen3 stuck on "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" screen
      by BMCappelletti
      Hi everyone.
Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 3, stuck on the "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" screen.
Found a lot of people with this issue, but with no definitive answer. Some people managed to get away accessing BIOS, going to Startup and turning off "Option Key Display". For me that only removed the interrupt normal start up message, leaving only the Lenovo logo.
Most people say hitting Enter does not work. It's true, if you wait a few seconds. But if you hit Enter right away you get the options to enter BIOS (which works), run diagnostics (goes to a...

      LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem
      by jimjoe123
I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

      Then each time...
