    Re: Emprex LM-2203 LCD

Took the offending lamp out of the panel and there actually two lamps in the assembly. The tube connected to the red wire (b1 on my test) had a burnt solder joint at the far end of the lamp. Look like it got hot the insulation on the white wire is dis-colored brown and the wire is all oxidized. The solder on the lamp is also all oxidized.

The thread below talks about a similar thing. Have a read to see how they dealt with it

        Re: Emprex LM-2203 LCD

I happy to report the monitor has been fixed. The issue was a broken return wire on one of the lamps. I was able to take all apart and re-solder the wire (not an easy task). Preliminary tests were good so I assembled the entire monitor and things seem to be working well at this point.

THANK YOU very much for the help and input to my problem

            Re: Emprex LM-2203 LCD

I have another question hope it is not to far off topic. The monitor is still working but I notice what I call a shadow or slight ghost image on the screen. The monitor is currently setup in a dual monitor arrangement using a GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4350 GV-R435OC-512I card. The main monitor is connected via DVI the Emprex is connected via the VGA port. I did turn down the brightness which did not make any difference. So did make some kind of mistake when I re-assembled the monitor. There were several pieces of thin mylar paper between the form LCD glass and the thick base plate that the lamps attach to. The paper material was keyed so it would only go on one way. I still have the option of using the HDMI port for the Emprex using a HDMI to DVI converter if anyone thinks it will make different.

              cheap vga cable.
you want one with at least 3 coax cables for rgb.

                probably a mercury starved lamp.
is the screen pink/orange on startup?
excessive cathode fall makes the heat.
