Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM colored vertical lines

Hello all =),

This is a Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM that appears to display some colored vertical lines, consisting of colors red green and blue. They show up randomly throughout the monitor at different times and colors.

I don't have a lot, if any experience with this sort of problem and even though I have done some research I do not see a clear answer, therefore I am coming to the best of the best first to get my facts straight.

What causes a problem like this?

What are the chances of repair?

You ddid not connect a signal to it?

Vertical colour lines like these are typically LCD screen issue; especially the vertical lines go thru your OSD. LCD screen issue is not repairable economically.

However, if these vertical lines do not go thru the OSD, then your Main board (aka Logic board) has a problem.

You don't have any issue with backlights here.

You should still open it up and check for bad caps....

I have, and when I do the lines are still present. What do you mean when you say go through my OSD?

Bring up the On Screen Diagnostics--the monitor menu--and ensure the lines go through it. If not then its a display board problem. Many OSD have the option to move them around so you can move the OSD into the lines if not there already.

Is this what you are referring to? if so the lines seem to go through it. Does this indicate an LCD screen problem or a Logical board problem? If this is an LCD issue, would the only way to fix it be to replace the entire LCD screen?

Yes, it definitely is your screen.

To rid of the lines, you need to repalce the entrie screen with another one (not worth it).

Hi Guys!

I think I've got similar problem could you please help with some advice.

What could be the possible cause of these lines ?

It happens when I start the PC and sometimes when I leave my PC on, but turn

the Screen off and then when I turn the Screen back on.

But when I reboot my PC it then works properly again. And one another things is

when my Screen turns like that, if I reconnect my Screen to my Laptop it

works fine and when I connect it back to PC it starts working fine again.

Please help.

By the way I forgot to give the model of my LCD Monitor it's
Samsung SyncMaster 510 mp 15" LCD Computer Monitor TV

And the colours of the Screen change in that stage.

That's another shot of my Screen.

That's when I turned the Screen itself off for a while (30 mins) and then turned

it back on.
