    Viewsonic ve710b question

Hello all, figured I would post my question on here to see if anyone could help.

I have several ve710b monitors I have been working on and have come across 3 different power/inverter designs.
The attached schematic and image are for the version that I have been able to successfully repair just by replacing the circled (red) capacitors.

The problem I am having is with a version that has removed the items circled (blue) and several of the capacitors have different ratings.
After replacing all the same caps on this board with new the monitor has the backlight 2 sec on then off problem. This occurs with every monitor that has this board version. I have verified that the cffl lights are good.

Something I have found by accident is that by removing the circled (green) cap the monitor works fine.

    any ideas?

A suggestion: Label the components you have circled with their identifier number (the cap circled in green is C823, for example). This way we can correlate the components in the picture with the schematic.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

      Re: Viewsonic ve710b question

The picture and schematic are not exact with the board I am having trouble with. The board I am having problems with is a newer version and I am unable to find any information online for it.

On the board I am having issues with.
      C823- is 470uf 25v
      C825- is 470uf 16v
      C828- is 1000uf
      C824- is removed

I will take a picture of the board I am having issues with and upload it tonight

images of front and rear of board
This board says va721 on it, but is out of a ve710b monitor.

I have found that every ve710b monitor that was manufactured in July of 2005 has this board in it.
Notice the really large replacement cap , I acquired a large bag of nichicon 1000uf 25v capacitors and have not gotten around to buying smaller ones.

I am getting 6v-7v and 14v-17v with C823 on and off the board.

So could someone tell me, is it ok to run without the 470uf 25v capacitor?

Or what could be causing it to kick the backlights off after two seconds.

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

              AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
              by wattage
              Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

              Hi Everyone

Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.
              https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...lashing-on-off

The monitor is HP 27es LED Monitor
              https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Deskto...e/td-p/6804692

The monitor will randomly blackout and display no signal and will recover again.
Sometimes need to power and off again to restore the display but...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
              by Rick_1234
              Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Wise Wing F199 19'' LCD monitor - recapped
              by momaka
Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...
