Dell 2209WAF works for only 5 min

    Hi,
I have a Dell 22 inch works for 5-10 min then switches off. It can be switched on agin after 10 min and stays on for 5-10 min and go black screen.

I have tried changing the four 470/35v caps on the left side .

    Thanks

The question is, does the video controller turn off the backlights or does the backlight controller turn them off? There is a 10 pin connector on the inverter board. Pins 1-3 should be the inverter supply (probably + 12 volts), 4-6 and 9 are ground. 7, 8, and 10 are control lines. In the time the monitor is working measure the voltage from ground (pin 5) to pins 1, 7, 8, and 10. When the monitor turns off check those voltages again. The let us know what they were.

Also, what is the number on the large IC on the inverter (the inverter controller)?

      Hi,
The picture of the chip is attached ...

now after changing the capacitors it's not turning on..I used philips caps..I have ordered panasonic to replace them.

      The inverter gets 24 v.

      Thanks

Check for solder shorts and reversed caps. You wouldn't be the first guy to make a mistake replacing caps.
