hello guys
my crt lg tv has a component signal input
does that mean it is an hd tv?!
if not, should i experience any better quality picture compared to s-video or av cables?

The tv is not HD only SD 480i
component is seperate R,G,B, which better than s-video, the resolution the tv can handle is 480i, It won't accept HD 720p or 1080i.

Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?

Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

Help Identify cap brand and quality, please

This is a cap on a motherboard from 1994. “Ark” is the only brand I know of that has an A inside a rectangle, but I wanted to run it by you guys and get any thoughts on quality.

Boston Acoustics fans, this thread might not be for you.
A few years back (~2018 time frame), I picked up a set of free JVC speakers from someone on Craigslist that no one seemed to be interested in. The guy also had a single Boston Acoustics HD8 speaker – yes, just one cabinet. He said he had no idea where he got this one from or why it's only by itself. Does WCAP-ATG5 has similar or better quality than smahwa capacitor?

I want to replace samhwa RG 250v 1uf capacitor which has no ESR value and has capacitance less than 280pf.
It is possible to purchase WCAP-ATG5 in local electronic shop.
But I want to know that whether WCAP-ATG5 capacitor has similar or better quality than smahwa capacitor or not.
Is there anyone who has experience to replace any bulge or faulty cap with cap from Wurth Elektronik?

Panasonic AG-1000B VHS player with bad picture quality

Hello!

I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.

Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.

I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?

Also, what mechanism is this?

Any feedback is appreciated!...
