Planar PL1910M LCD will not power on

    Hi to all.
This monitor has been driving me nuts for the past two days and I just can't figure it out so i came in for some help.
The main problem is the monitor will not turn on just a flashing LED on the ON button.
The back lights were checked to be OK
All the caps checked ok with and ESR Tester.
All the diodes checked OK – Desolder one leg and test with a smart tweezers.
    MOSFET Tested Ok.
Resolder all the joints on the back side.
And still no go – so I figured maybe I should try to power it from an external power adapter but there are no marking on the board to which pen is which. So I plugged in a couple of extra back lights to the board. Flipped it upside down and fired it up and start poking the bins I found the +5V / +12 / Ground / On / Of while doing that I accidentally jumped the pins marked on the attached image A&B and the back lights come on and stayed on – tried to trace the connectors to the Video board but that's almost impassible.
All the caps on the video board checked ok too.
    Any ideas ???

if dc voltages +5V and +12V are fine and if are regulated voltages on main a/d board (3.3V or 1.8V probably) are fine too, problem is probably in mcu (or his eeprom) as led flashing, however check for possible shorts (smd capacitors) on main board or even shorts towards lcd panel electronics

Hi, Thanks for the info - i did check as much as i can with no luck - i spend too much time on this board and i think it's time for it to be recycled.

      Take Care.

Looks more like a Hanns-G than a Planar.... look at this thread : https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6695
Did you check the LCD without the LCD connected to the VBoard to see how the power LED behaves?

If the led is flashing green and amber, the unit needs reset. I have purchased 3 of these units with this issue and all worked after resetting.

Here is the link to the reset procedure:

Same here. Thanks for the link. Wish I had found this before I took it apart.
                Works great now.

OK so this planar was fixed with a reset...amazing....
                  now my question is...
How many other monitors allow a similar reset, to get them going again.
( is planar the lone dog? )

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                    Hi,

I have the above mentioned bord after repair, which was related to a lot of missing smd devices on the back of the board.
There were almost 20 devices missing, caps, resistors and some diodes/mosfets.
The board is generally working now, all PCIe ports are working, Windows installs normally.

However I have a problem with SATA ports 4-7 (the board has 8 SATA ports) - disks are not beeing recognized by the BIOS neither by Windows (which is usually normal in case BIOS does not recognize them).
The SATA 4-7 driver network is quite simple chipset<->buffers/drivers<->SATA...

Sharp 80” long short flash backlight error - Help

                    Hello Sharp TV experts
Our Sharp LC-80LE642U displays one short one long flash error code which is a backlight error. I went into service mode and there were 8 lamp error counts recorded. I reset the count to 0 and did a reset. The last monitor error cause was 16 B00014639:12. 16 is the code for backlight error. I tried to power the tv up but went back into error mode.

                    > I checked voltages on the power supply board and they all check out .. including 3.28 volts at the error pin.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...
