Hello all. I am new to the forum so bare with me. I have a popular Viewsonic VP2030b LCD monitor. Some time back it just died - NO POWER LIGHT - NO NOTHING.. I am trying to fix it for another computer I inherited. Logically, if the monitor doesn't power up one would tend to look at the power supply. I am NOT as fortunate as the many others that have found 'blown' caps on their power board and that fixed it. The board is removed from the monitor rear and I have looked at this board with a magnifying glass and none of the caps appear to be blown. I have ohmed out from the power plug through the switch to the other side of the 15 amp fuse and all was ok. Rather than chase my tail, is there a way, with the board on my bench, that I can plug in the power cord and check the output to see if it's there or not which would certainly speed up the repair process (power board is bad or problem lies elsewhere)? On the lower edge of the board I see a box with 8 voltages printed in it. On connector CN1 there just happens to be 8 pins. Is this the correct table for that connector and output voltages? One gentleman on YOUtube was stating a monitor/computer power supply typically has to be turned "on" by jumpering several pins on the power supply board. I see the ON/OFF pin but (if his remarks are true) what would I jumper ON/OFF to? IF there is a guide/manual/pdf in another forum tab please let me know and I will go there. I did look at the "gone in 2 seconds" guide but that did NOT apply as it does NOT power up at all. Thanks for any input, guidance or help offered.

Re: EADP-64BF B troubleshooting guide?
You can run the power supply board by itself because it is an always on power supply, so when you apply 120Vac to the board, you should see some DCV at the connector that goes to the logic board.

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by momakaNormally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow.
But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.
