Today, we received a call from our local newsagency that one of their POS computers stopped working, and when we arrived, I found this computer was working, but the monitor was not.
Someone who worked at the newsagency said that the monitor (four years old) made a fizzing sound until stopping completely; we got them a new unit.
When I opened up the defective monitor, I saw two bulging Su'scon SC Series units (470uF 35V and 1000uF 10V) on the power supply board and decided to replace all units (a total of 5) except for the 450V unit (which was still good) on this board and the problem was fixed.
All up, a total of about half an hour was spent fixing this problem.

But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
