Hello, I have an al1706ab that had died the other day, no power, no lights, but the vpu on the logic board gets hot very fast. Using similar threads as a guide, I tried bypassing u406, no change. The big cap is showing 165v, cn302 connector is showing black= 0v, brown=0v, red=14.39v, orange=0v, yellow=4.94v, blue=0v and purple=0v (from top to bottom). I'm not sure where to check next, and thanks in advance for any help, its greatly appreciated.

Re: Acer AL1706AB no power
Your power supply is putting out (you are getting the 5VDC and the 15VDC). The IC should never get too hot to touch so if that is what you are seeing then that is probably your problem.Never stop learning

Re: Acer AL1706AB no power
Hi, thanks for the reply, I was thinking the source would be the ps board because my brown wire is 0v where in https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...01&postcount=6 RobertoIsRad's was 4.5v. I tested again last night (2am) and while testing I flipped the power button board away from the panel buttons to see it better. When I first plug in the ac, I get a very faint amber light for a few seconds, and while testing, I gathered readings for : u702- top- 4.28v, middle-3.24v, bottom-0.01v q701-left-0.71v, right-0.01v q702-left-3.27v, middle-0v, right-0.45v. Hopefully this may be an easy fix, if not I'll render it to the parts shelf, I have also 2 Dell's and my favorite Samsung to troubleshoot still.Comment

Re: Acer AL1706AB no power
That is because that wire is probably the signal control line from the logic board. For the backlights to come on, it needs BL-ON signal to turn on the Inverter and the Dimming control signal for the backlights level control, those signals will be present when the power switch is activated and the the Video signals from PC is present. The power supply only has two output Voltages: 5Vdc and 12~18VDC range for the inverter circuit and AUX circuits.
The power supply is also an always on, meaning it always running as long as the monitor is plugged into an AC outlets.Never stop learning

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Hi everyone,
I'm working on an Acer Nitro 5 unit with the following specs:- Motherboard: LA-J871P Rev: 1B

Initial Issue
The laptop initially presented graphic issues and driver failure (Code 43) for the GPU.
After preventive maintenance (cleaning, thermal paste, etc.), it powered on normally. We disassembled it again to inspect the GPU, reassembled... -
by usbdeviceHi all
There's two other threads about this monitor with seemingly the same problem. The problem was resolved in one case by replacing the entire PSU board and in the second one by replacing an unknown IC.

The first one has pictures of the pcbs and I noticed that there's one IC and assorted caps not populated on mine (but the PCB itself looks identical) so I thought that'd warrant a new thread.
It's my dad's old monitor. He...-

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.
Well, my decice specs are the following:
Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c
The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...05-26-2025, 10:49 AM -
by justice171I am seeking guidance on an Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 that does not turn on when pressing the power button.
Below are the observations and troubleshooting steps I have taken so far: Observations and Tests:- Verified that all critical voltages are present:
- 3.3V and 5V are always present if DC is plugged.
- 1.8V on the BIOS chip is present.
- Checked the power button functionality:
- When pressed, the voltage drops to 0V, indicating the button is functional.
- Inspected the flex cable connecting the USB, audio, and power button to JUB1:
- Confirmed connectivity is intact, ruling out issues
