    Asus VW22* monitor

    Hey guys

I have two of these monitors that come on then turn off within a couple seconds. However, if I disconnect the video (?) Ribbon cable and turn the monitors on they will turn on the back lights like they should and after a few seconds the amber light will come on indicating standby mode.

Any advice for me or do you need more details? Just let me know.

Pictures of the back side of the monitor that shows all the boards?
Are you talking about the cable between the LOGIC/Main board and the LCD panel assembly?

Yes, that's the cable I am referring to. I can get you pictures of the boards tomorrow if you like.

      Thank you for responding.

This sounds similar to the fault I have on my ASUS which I started a thread recently.
Does it display 'No Signal' before it goes into standby?

So if the ribbon cable to the LCD panel is bot connected Dnd if you have MONITOR connected to running PC, the backlights will stay on and it does not go into STBY, right? If that is the case, to me you have something wrong on the T-CON board on the LCD panel assembly.

The only way it will stay on is disconnect the video ribbon cable from the panel so there is no display when it's on. If I connect the cable to the panel it comes on once then goes off immediately and subsequent presses of the power button does nothing noticeable.

I plugged it into a computer and as you can see, it is on. I guess it looks like a bad t-con?

That's interesting, I hadn't tried running mine without the ribbon connected. Will try that later and see what results I get.

                        Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

4 weeks ago i launched Metro Exodus Enhanced and during cinematic advertisement part ( 30 fps ), pc just shutdown.
Also monitor flickered with NO SIGNAL 10 seconds after shutdown. So only monitor and pc was affected.

Next i pressed only power button, rebooted again and its fine again. Happened once and i cant reproduce.

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...
