    DELL P2217H power issue

    Hello,
I have two identical Dell monitors P2217H that don't power on. I took the PSU and mainboards out and connected them on another monitor. Connecting just the PSUs on the third monitor (with similar mainboard) and the monitor worked fine. So both have an issue on the mainboards.
It seems the 19V rails on both mainboards have a short. Pins 5-6 are the 19V rail, 3-4 is ground, 1-2 is DIM and PWN_ON/OFF
I circled the caps in green where the short appears. It would be helpful if someone can indicate a suspect or a way to figure it out.

    Update
I removed the caps to elimilate at least this one and found a short cap pointed with the red arrow.
Now the screen powers on, I have the Dell logo for half a second displayed but then the LEDS shut off. I still have power on the monitor though and I can switch on and off the monitor.

Depending what tools you got on hand. My first go to would be to inject power into the shorted voltage rail with a CV/CC bench PSU. Feed power and see what gets warm by dousing 99% IPA on suspects and see which one bubbles.
Other method is something that can measure minuscule amount of resistance like a micro ohm meter or Leakseeker89.
Third option is to depopulate the board until the short is gone.

Thank you for the suggestions. I think your message came right on the same time when I removed the shorted cap.
So, after removing the shorted cap. The mainboard worked as I said previously by swapping it to a similar Dell monitor.

Then regarding the LEDs: I changed the BL managing chip with another one I had available, MP3375. This chip needs at R864 a 0 Ohm resistor and now the monitor works just fine!

Dell G3 17 3779 Weird power cycling and shutdown/restart issue
            by SuperJames
This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

            Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

            Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
            by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue: reaches Dell logo and stops
            by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...

Dell G15 5515 RGB Keyboard Not Detected (Compatible Keyboard, Possible BIOS/EC Issue?)
            by NotEnough
            Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050 Ti) and recently installed a compatible 4-zone RGB keyboard and controller (for Dell G15 5510/5511/5515 models). While the keyboard functions for typing, the RGB lighting is not detected by Alienware Command Center (AWCC), which displays “No AlienFX devices found.”

            What I've Tried So Far:
            • Reseated the cables.
            • Reinstalled AWCC and AlienFX services.
            • Attempted BIOS downgrade but no improvement.
            • Inspected ribbon cables for damage.
            • Explored the possibility of BIOS or

Issues Reviving Old Dell 2408WFPb Monitor
            by Jesus Coder
            Hello everyone,

I have been having some difficulties reviving an old Dell 2408WFPb PC monitor that I received for free. When I first acquired it, the backlights of the display were on but alas no image was showing. After extensive research on the topic, I went ahead and purchased a new t-con board for the monitor. After installing the board, I was then presented with a new screen that was half black and half green (more so black). I have been unable to figure out what to do next as I have limited knowledge of display electronics. Might anyone on this forum have an idea of what may...
