DELL E176FPf 2 Secs To Black

Got this DELL E176FPf from the scrap yard, turns on for a few secs then shuts off, led stays on. I can hear odd noise from the power supply board almost like a crunching sound not a whine.

I removed the board and don't see anything that looks bad? Where do I go next?

Maybe arcing/sparking making the sound. Check the CCFL wires & connections for signs of burning.

Nope, everything looks good no arching that I can see. Can't see any burning,

Next thing comes to mind is an inverter transformer shorting, arcing internally.

Ok, Thanks I will plug it up outside the case and see if I can see anything or pinpoint the noise.

BTW I have one of these monitors I repaired a year or so ago (replaced caps in the inverter section), and I thought I had the schematic for it but apparently not. There are a few other threads here discussing this monitor if you haven't already looked at them.

The sound is a hiss and it only happens when T2 has to drive both CCFL tubes, If I unhook one of the CCFL tubes (it's leads wire connector) the hissing stops, I can't tell if it's coming from the panel or the board. T2 is the inverter in the lower right hand of the photo. Still 2 secs to black even if some of the CCFL are unplugged.

You will get 2-second to black if one of the lamp is bad, does not light up, or does not stay on after 3 seconds, it is part of the protection circuit.
You should remove the transformer and inspect it real close, also check the secondary side (high voltage side) winding resistance. The hissing sound can also come from the lamp due to bad solder joints, wire insulation break down, or crack lamp.

Thanks everyone for the help, I checked out the transformers they seemed good. So I tore apart the LCD panel and sure enough one of the CCFL tubes is very black and burnt. One tap with the screw driver and it just broke. not worth fixing at this point.

                      Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                      by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

                      good morning all,

i purchased a used dell e6540 laptop used 10 months ago from a vendor on ebay. intel i-7 processor, 16 gb ddr3 memory, 256 gb ssd., mobo la-9413p (rev 1.0 dated 2014-08-04). i've inflicted no damage on it since purchase but its past is unknown. starting 2 weeks ago it began to fail to boot (initially 9 of 10 boot attempts failed, now 10 of 10 fail). there was no new hardware or software added (i was using as a kodi video server). the post process doesn't complete and booting no longer displays the dell logo screen - screen remains black with no backlight. some other...

hello friends, I have a DELL LATITUDE 5420---MODEL P137G, ST 20TFKN3 LA-K491P REV:2.0 (A01) and its quite a challenge. It powers on with the battery disconnected, lasts on for about 15 secs, and then shuts off. It does the same with battery only (no adapter). With battery and adapter it sometimes starts after hitting the button several times. It displays nothing in every case. Since only the Boardview is available, I guided myself with schematics similar to this laptop (I'll add them down). Some measurements:

1- After receiving power SIO_SLP_S0# goes high and never changes.
