    LG W1941s strange problem

I have a strange PSU fault on this monitor, the monitor turns on and works for about 5 mins, then the PSU shuts down (no power from the yellow transformer). After about 1 min the monitor restarts itself. and it just keeps doing this 5 mins turns off then 1 min turns on. I removed the Rectifier as shown in the picture and connected a test PSU to these point, the monitor works fine.

So I think the fault must be with the main side of the PSU.

I have already replaced the yellow transformer and the Rectifier but still have the same problem

Test all capacitors with ESR meter if you don't have an ESR meter replace all caps but the big fat one are those diodes test good.

Yes the diodes are good, I have replaced all the cap still the same problem. I did replace the large main cap just to make sure.

Try some freeze spray on IC802 when the monitor shuts off. If it turns back on right away, then the chip is likely overheating, or is defective.

Thanks Ben, I have just tried the freeze spray and the monitor turns on right away. I will order a new chip and that should sort out the problem.

Dell monitor PSU vs Dell laptop PSU

                Hi there!
Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs. They are of the same 19.5V, and the wattage of the laptop PSU is higher than that which the monitor is rated for. Visually, the socket on the monitor seems compatible, and the plug plugs...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
                by Rick_1234
                Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

                Hi all

There's two other threads about this monitor with seemingly the same problem. The problem was resolved in one case by replacing the entire PSU board and in the second one by replacing an unknown IC.

                https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40512

The first one has pictures of the pcbs and I noticed that there's one IC and assorted caps not populated on mine (but the PCB itself looks identical) so I thought that'd warrant a new thread.

                Problem with monitor DS-D5022QE-B
                by Askic
                Hello to all,

I have a problem with monitor that is delivered together with CCTV system.
The monitor appears to be completely dead, there is no LED power diode and it doesn't react to pressed power button.

I have disconnect display and check many components on the power supply part of the board. There is no anything obvious and monitor is about 3 years old. There are no bulged caps. When measuring voltages on the output connector to VGA board I can measure stable 14.5 V on 12V pins and stable 5.07V on 5V pins. So I assumed that this part of the board is OK....

I have an intermittent display problem with my monitor, when I plug in the HDMI cable to my (or any) laptop, you see the connection screen shrink on the laptop as it usually would before displaying on the monitor but 95% of the time the monitor display stays black.

Before it cut out all together, tapping the monitor control button a fair few times would make the screen display, and everything work fine.

But now it never does it. Not sure what's going on, hoping someone can help. I'm capable of stripping the thing down and soldering in new parts if needed, or programming...
