    Problem with monitor DS-D5022QE-B

    Hello to all,

I have a problem with monitor that is delivered together with CCTV system.
The monitor appears to be completely dead, there is no LED power diode and it doesn't react to pressed power button.

I have disconnect display and check many components on the power supply part of the board. There is no anything obvious and monitor is about 3 years old. There are no bulged caps. When measuring voltages on the output connector to VGA board I can measure stable 14.5 V on 12V pins and stable 5.07V on 5V pins. So I assumed that this part of the board is OK.
I have found that on the power LED I have only about 1.4V and this voltage is not stable, it seems to fluctuate between 1 and 1.4V.
I guess problem is somewhere on the VGA/HDMI board.

Is there anything else I can check?
I have attached the picture of the boards.

    Thank you.

There is a 3.3v converter on the board, 5v will come to it, and 3.3v should come out of it, is it there?

      Hi lotas,

yes, input is 4.67V (not really 5V) and output is 3.27V just as shown in the attachment.

Do I need to have a small LED light next to power button even if display is disconnected?

The firmware can be built here, as well as the processor, if a discharge has arrived via hdmi, check for short leads on the protective diodes (TVS)

            Hi lotas,
based on your suggestions, I have obtained more information from the owner of the monitor.
This monitor was connected to CCTV system and problem happened during the storm.
            This is what happened:
            1. one PoE IP camera died.
            2. the port on the DVR to which camera was connected is also dead, there was a TVS diode shorted to ground. This diode was removed, and this port is blocked. DVR works without problems and all other cameras are working OK.
            3. DVR was connected to this monitor via HDMI cable, so this is the path through monitor was damaged.

However, the same HDMI port on DVR is OK, since DVR works fine (except this one LAN port that suffered damage) and it is connected via the same hdmi cable to another monitor.

It seems that the discharged came from the IP camera (this camera is damaged), arrived to the DVR device, burned LAN port circuit and through HDMI port arrived to the monitor and damaged its hdmi/vga board.

Is there any way I can check these components you marked on the board (check resistance or check for short in the diode mode)?

I guess, it is very likely that the monitor board is beyond repair now, or probability of the repair is very low.

There you can see the tracks that go to the processor (8 lines) for these diode assemblies, conclusions 1,2,4,5 relative to gnd in diode mode, you can also check for resistance.

Also check these conclusions with respect to gnd.

Thank you lotas for your advice, I have noticed that main processor becomes really hot if hdmi/vga board is connected to the power supply board. So for sure this board is dead. I have ordered a replacement board from ebay.
Thank you very much for the help.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily

Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

I got a HP V193 monitor it has a E59670 now i got a few of these, been using them for long time now, however this particular monitor was blacking out for a few times then after unplugging and plugging it back in it gets back to normal until now its dead.

I tried switching the power supply board with another similar monitor and it works,so I'm trying to fix this power supply board I got some basic in electronics as a hobbyist.

                    Steps taken so far:

Sony KDL-40Z4500 LCD with stripes and 9 blinks (possible BGC board or harness problem
                    by huj3r
                    Hi there!

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 which shows a colored vertical stripes pattern when turning on, with a central black shadow that slowly dissipates within the first 10 seconds.

Photo of the situation after the black shadow dissipates:

After this behavior the red LED will blink 9 times, then pause for a bit, and blink again 9 times, in a loop.

I checked the manual (available here) and this corresponds to "HFR error", quoting from the manual:

                    > This indicates HFR Communication error. [ HFR Communication...
