    2x 2243NW screens faulty

    Right guys,

Picked up two monitors from ebay at afew dollars each (1.7£)

The issue they have is when you apply power they power on and back off after afew seconds.

The LED on the front stays blue and if ou press the auto function you can see the menu really dark. So I decided it was the invertors that was causing the issue. I replaced the power invertors on the board and it has made no difference.

Will attach pictures in a minute. Thanks

One of the pins on the primary side of T801 looks as though it has a dry joint,it needs re-soldering ?? I would then check the secondary resistance of both the Inverter transformers and advise.

        Hi,

I have not worked on electronics much, so pretty new!

The disconnected pin does not connect to anything.
        it has no tracks.

and the resistance of the other transformer need to be within 3%(although could be SLIGHTLY more)of the one you have measured...if it is then it may well be the lamps or there wiring that is faulty.

Yes both lamps can go bad, bad wires. etc.

To test the board, you will need test lamps.

                  Re: 2x 2243NW screens faulty

Can I test the board with just one other CCLF lamp ?
Or do I need 4 of them ?

Where is the best place to get replacements ?

                  Thanks

It is easier if you have a set of 2,,,if you ever get to Harrogate I can give you a test pair. The cost of new ones in the UK is very expensive, and they are very easily broken if you have to replace them. You can make some alternative ones, have a look at budm's post above.

Issues with new Surface Pro 5 screens
                      by diamon
I have three Microsoft Surface Pro 5 model 1796, with all cracked screens.
Have bought from Aliexpress three new screens, the part numbers from my and the seller are the same:

Bad working China screen part number:

Good working own screen part number

Error I get with the bad working China screen:

No error with the good working own screen:

All the three China screens (all the same exact part numbers) produce the same error in Device manager. Have also performed a clean installation...

Why doesn't current just bypass faulty capacitors.
                      by Spudgun
Hello esteemed members. I appreciate that my question will strike some as being somewhat childishly simple, but it genuine perplexes me! I have repaired several laptops before by removing a faulty capacitor that was short-circuiting the motherboard, whereupon the laptop would then work. For me, it begs the question that, if the current can bypass where the capcitor was when it has been removed, why didn't it just bypass it when it was present and faulty,? I can't get my head round the premise that if the other side of the capacitor is connected to ground, then why doesn't the current simply bypass...

Acer A317-53 need help to disable faulty onboard ram
                      by b-slayer
                      Hello.
I have an Acer Aspire A317-53 laptop with faulty onboard ram modules, after online searches, I have only found two options to get it working :
                      - first one is to modify le bios to disable the onboard ram.
                      - second one is to disable the onboard ram by desoldering some components on the mainboard.

so after some hours google-ing, i have to give-up the modified bios option, main reason is I couldn't find anywhere a such modified Bios, alternate reason is that if windows update makes a bios update, the problem is always here...

so i found that my motherboard...

Ryobi 36V (aka 40V) 6Ah Faulty Battery Pack
                      by brispuss
Purchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.

Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.

I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),...

Faulty memory slot on Tekram Slot 1 motherboard
                      by Byte_76
I have a Tekram P6PRO-A5 Rev. 1.01 which has an issue with one of the memory slots and with the floppy port.

When a memory module is installed into the slot which is closest to the north bridge, the board will beep and won't post. The same memory module works in the two remaining slots.

Also, the floppy drive does not work regardless of bios settings.

Please help me to identify the possible cause of the faulty memory slot and the floppy drive port as well.

I have examined the board under my digital microscope and did not find any broken traces....
