LG Studioworks 775N monitor

Hello All,

I have an LG Studioworks 17 inch CRT monitor, model 775N. It is currently sitting in my shed. It was working fine a few months back, then one day, it started to click in operation, a few times actually, so i turned it off, then i went to turn it back on and it wouldnt turn on. It just clicks .... very loudly.... i can hear it degauss itself on bottup , then it will just click and turn off, and automatically reboot and do it all again, nothing comes onto the screen now, just a blackness. I was lucky once to get the words "Signal cable disconnected" for about 10 seconds, and it automatically turned off again, with the standby light in Amber.
Im guessing that my flyback circuit is busted forever now?

most likely PSU EHT as you suspect pm you some info
hoping you haven't killed EHT

Be careful in there, nasty bites or terminal case of "dead" possible


even with plug removed

Will there seriously still be power in there?! it's been unplugged since April 2006.... wow, that thing must be like a battery....

Really was talking about when you replace things power it up turn it off cause it didn't work and go poking around inside
but yes somethings can hold a charge for quite a while
(ok maybe not months)

The tube is a very good capacitor (of sorts) and when charged up from the EHT at about 25,000 ~30,000 Volts (25KV~30KV) can have a very high voltage stored across it

Always follow correct Safety procedures

Basically not really a place for people with little knowledge to be in which is why the warning above.

suggest you go here to read more about them and the safety section.
This will give you an idea of how the TV works, crt monitors are basically the same but have different application and therefore are somewhat different in how they process the video signals and display it.

I would probably just check, replace regs etc as outlined in PM
but if its the EHT ....bin it probably not worth the cost of fixing

Just an update.... Well I got rid of the LG CRT monitor earlier this year and got a replacement Diamond View 1770G 17" CRT monitor.
