    Dell E171FP sync issue?

Hi fellas and ladies. I have another weird one here.

I picked up this dell e171fp monitor.

It powers on, backlights stay on, power stays on, i can kind of see an image but its all hashy and looks like the monitor has lost horizontal sync.

ANyone ever ran into this? Im guessing mainboard issue?

Reseat and clean every internal connector.

If that doesn't work, try checking the voltage regulators on the main board and panel board (or t-con).

unfortunately no luck on the reseat job.

The longer its on the hashier and slower the screen response gets. ALso will not turn itself off. Yay. Guess i need to make sure my power suppply works and then track down a good mainboard if the ps checks ok?

Ha.. got home tonight and my kid had this monitor out and plugged in playing with it.

Much to my suprise, its working now. I dont know if he accientally figured out some sort of reset, or if it only works because its warmed up.. i guess i will make this my pc monitor for awhile and see if it starts acting up again.

Ok.. what happened is when i got home the monitor was plugged in backlights on, no Picture. Monitor was warm from being on several hours. After a power cycle now the monitor came up fine. Used for a couple hours working fine., Powered on and off several times, still looked good. I unplugged it and let it cool off, now its acting up again. I have got to have a bad solder joint somewhere on the mainboard. Hopefully i will be able to figure out where and fix it with my hakko hot air rework station.

Hmm.. could be weak caps too on the second or third powerup it will usually come on right, each time looking better and better on screen untill finally it powers on clean and sharp. sometimes will power cycle itself and then stay on... this ones an odd one. MAybe i ought to just cap it first and see what i get from there. No ammount of flexing anywhere will make the issue come and go.

When caps warm up, ESR will go down. Get yourself a can of Air-duster, use it upside down to get freezing air for cooling to locate which board is bad and Hair dryer for warming up the boards. More likely to have bad caps.

Dell G3 17 3779 Weird power cycling and shutdown/restart issue
              by SuperJames
This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

              Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

              Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
              by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue: reaches Dell logo and stops
              by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...

Dell Latitude 3510 Overheating & Fan Control Issue – Need Help

Dell Latitude 3510 (Intel Core i7-10510U) CPU Overheating

              Issue Description:
              1. CPU Overheating to 100°C
                • When I start the laptop from a cold state, it takes about a minute to reach temps around 80-90-100°C, and CPU thermal throttling triggers.
                • When the CPU fan is running at full speed (by disconnecting PWM and TACH cables), CPU temperature stays around 50-60°C.
                • However, when the fan is connected normally to the motherboard, it does not kick in at high temperatures.
                • I also noticed a few times that the fan kicked in for a very short time, but it does not stay on consistently.

Dell G15 5515 RGB Keyboard Not Detected (Compatible Keyboard, Possible BIOS/EC Issue?)
              by NotEnough
              Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050 Ti) and recently installed a compatible 4-zone RGB keyboard and controller (for Dell G15 5510/5511/5515 models). While the keyboard functions for typing, the RGB lighting is not detected by Alienware Command Center (AWCC), which displays “No AlienFX devices found.”

              What I've Tried So Far:
              • Reseated the cables.
              • Reinstalled AWCC and AlienFX services.
              • Attempted BIOS downgrade but no improvement.
              • Inspected ribbon cables for damage.
              • Explored the possibility of BIOS or
