    HP 2009m widescreen OSD lockout

    Here's a strange one.
Nice looking HP widescreen, message pops up constantly "OSD Lockout"
According to Google it's a fairly common problem.

Reset doesn't help. Disassembled - someone has been in here before, foil tape is pretty mangled. Most of the power/inverter board caps are Rubycon, 'cept the 4 at the power output connectors, they're elite.
I replace those, and 1 on the main board that reads questionably.
    Re-assemble, same problem.
According to some HP documents this problem can happen if the menu button is held down too long, so I decide to check the controls.

I disassemble again and this time take out the control PCB that's between the main back housing and the middle that the bezel snaps on to. (shoulda taken photos, it's a weird setup. Anyway, I check the switches, all ok.
Power it up on the bench with the control board dangling from the wires, so I can scope the outputs, and it works great!

After a day of testing, I re-assemble and it's still working.
I figure either a plastic button that actuates the switch was stuck, or maybe the connector wasn't making proper contact.

    ThinkPad T400 fan in a 14.1in T61 widescreen?
    by Digi
So, my cheap find has an issue with the fan being rattly, and as a result when I removed the heatsink and fan assembly, the glue and foil has perished from the fan and fins on the heatsink. At the moment I did buy a replacement fan but upon fitting, or trying to, it wasn't even a match.

Now I'm figuring out whether a T400 fan is compatible with my 14.1in T61 Intel-only widescreen, as all I'm looking for is a replaced fan and a working unit again.

I'd appreciate any input on this before I gallivant eBay and the like.

Dell Alienware x17 R1 - Keyboard not working
    by ronaldopdias
    Symptoms:
No keys work apart from F1, F7, F12 function keys such as keyboard brightness, touchpad enable/disable.
Keyboard RGB works okay and might be adjustable.
VERY occasionally it may function but most of the time it is dead.

The fault is down to the USB data lines not going low when the bus is idle. The keyboard connects over USB, so the issue on the USB data bus causes it to stop functioning.

The fix is to fit a 1K resistor to the daughterboard that the keyboard + trackpad connect to. The daughterboard is located beneath the battery. The resistor...

Crest Smart Home Single Power Adaptor SHSPM1 (rebadged Tuya device) - bad cap causing failure, how to repair
    by mrdevil
    Hi all,

Wanted to share this as I couldn't find anything on the internet about this problem, so pulled one apart and found the problem myself. Years ago I bought approx 20 or so Crest Smart Home Single Power Adapter smart switches - small 240v Tuya-compatible (rebranded) smart switch devices with power monitoring, which Big W had on sale for half price. Paid $7.50 each for these, and they've been incredibly useful for turning things on and off remotely... and monitoring how much power each device uses.

However, after about 12 months, I had a number of these stop working...

    Dell 3502 LA-G094P BIOS need !
    by kandyan
This laptop came to upgrade primary storage to a nvme and hinge repair. Once we disassemble and reassemble it, startup screen shows no bootable device.
When F12 pressed it shows UEFI bootable devices such as USB flash and nvme but didn't boot to either devices.
Then I tried to change boot mode but it only shows legacy option and cannot be changed.
I uploaded the original BIOS backup .
    .
    Update:
I tried few BIOS from the internet and all of them shows CPU error blinks once turn on the laptop. I think all of those for compatible with this CPU. this one has Pentium...
