Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
I was able to repair the power board but buying and trying to install the tubes was a bear. I learned that its best to just send the tubes in and have a place do it for you.
The monitor is not working as I couldnt find the right length tubes to put in it. So, I do have a working screen (minus the tubes), working power board and such.
I think that you can get it working but send in the light tubes plus assemblies and have a company do the repair on them so you can get them back and just install them.
Best of luck,

Did you ever get this working? i have one, but don't wont to spend the time and money if it never got working, i see this is a hugely common issue with these monitors.

ccflwarehouse.com also sells them pre-harnessed in addition to bare lamps. Pre-harnessed is more expensive, but easier to install.Leave a comment:

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
Ordered in two 2.6mm x 565mm tubes and 8 endcaps. In talking to them its more important to get as close to the diameter of the tube then the size. I have also read to try and stay about 5mm within the size of the tube but not going over the original size.
As soon as I can get these (nebraska ---> Indiana) from ccflwharehouse.com I can finish the repair and be done with it.
Thanks again for all the advice from everyone. This certainly made a great beginner project for repairing monitors. Since the monitor is somewhat expensive it was worth the money. I see they sell for about 225.oo or so.

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
Thank you for the ccfl tube recommendation. Im going to get something ordered up today. Need to get this monitor completed.
I certainly understand ordering 2 tubes. Im sure it was I that broke the tube in this monitor by accident. Really got upset and had to leave the shop for awhile to cool off
Saw one of these 2509m monitors for sale on ebay for parts. They were asking around 65 bucks for it. Because of the size I was thinking this would be a shipping nightmare.?
Thanks again,

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
I have used the following e-Bay auction and in the payment, put the information that they request and list the actual LENGTH and DIAMETER of the ccfl that you want to replace (3.0mm x 570mm). I usually order 2, just in case I break one (I haven't yet) because the shipping for the second one is free. $13 for 1 ccfl and $21 for 2.

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
Ok, I have decided to replace the broken tube and resurect this poor hp monitor. The tubes are 569.9125mm from glass end to glass end. As best as I can tell the diameter is 3mm. I dont think a direct replacement is available as I dont see anything near 569/570mm in length for a tube.
At ccflwarehouse closest I get and not overshooting is 535mm. This would leave 3/4 inch short on each side.
They show a diameter of 2.6 with a length of 565. Now thats only 4mm short. Is the diameter going to make that much difference in brightness or whatever?
I would hate to think I have to have these custom made. I have never ordered tubes before so I lack the experience in replacing them. Any help is appreciated here.Leave a comment:

They also have "Bargains" if you hit lucky on ebay - this is an example.
Company is Plazmo Industries

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
I have 1 broken ccfl tube that is about 22.5 inches long and as far as I can figure its 3mm diameter. What really gets me is I had a hard time getting the silicon end piece off of them. The tubes are paired (2 tubes at top, 2 tubes at bottom) with dual silicon end covers. I actually had to destroy the silicon end covers to get them off.
I dont think I would have a problem soldering the connectors to the tubes but coming up with end connectors does bother me. Any ideas on this?
If I can find the right size tube I might go for it. I have everything else working on the monitor and have to fix some bad solder points to the tubes so in reality I m going to need 4 end covers. Hummm... Wonder if I can actually make some end covers? Silicon glue???

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
Hmmm .....
I was thinking that perhaps you may want to see if it's true that poor solder joints on the tubes is causing the dark left thing. If the tubes themselves are still good then some cleanup and re-soldering should do it. If it really is the tube, well, it's still your call .....
I've done quite a number of ccfls replacement and it helps to calm oneself (relax, deep breaths, meditate, whatever) before attempting it.
All in all, This was a good learning experience basically. Thats about it. I will though check and see if I can fix the ends of the tubes.
Therefore, It was the arching of the tubes that made it flicker then. The tubes themselves look to be about 22 inches long. There are 2 tubes to each (top and bottom of monitor). I will see about soldering them.
Thank you for your input!

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
What a nice thread to read (sarcastic). Thanks United.
Ive been cautioning my customers about HP laptops for a few years now and they keep buying them. Then they come to me and cry when the boards burn up.
Im not sure I want to replace the tubes in it (4) as that will probably be quite expensive along with the inverter controller chip. Opinions on that possibility?
I hope HP goes under at this point.
I guess I will have to re-think things here a bit before I proceed any further. Have any of you done a replacement on the ccfl tubes? Pretty expensive? This darn thing has 4 in it.
Thanks again all!

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
When you soldered the wire to the FDB6030L how did you connect the jumper wire? Did you solder one end to the tab and where did you connect the other end?
Also, those two caps reading 31.5V (seems high), what is the voltage rating stamped on them?Last edited by jetadm123; 12-17-2012, 02:42 PM.Leave a comment:

Hmmm .....
I believe the same symptom is being discussed here:

If that's true, you'll have to take a peek at the ccfls now ...Leave a comment:

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
It just seems add that when you move the cables the dark are doesnt move.
Could you make one of Budms test lamps - may be nearer a 25" ccfl than the 15"

Re: HP 2509M Monitor - no display
Very slight difference. I wouldnt think enough to matter really. It goes into standby mode just because no signal is hooked up from a computer. But if I do hook it up to a computer it will stay on.
Iam going to check some transisters on the board next. Cant get the part numbers off of them without taking them out.
Thanks again

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by momakaNormally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow.
But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Problem: I need to purchase a mosfet chip from board 820-02100 M1 Pro, that is supposed to be Q5820 but according to Digikey, the schematic diagram I sent them, neither are relevant to the actual mosfet specification I sent them. I just basically need to find this mosfet to purchase, I cannot find it anywhere and am hoping someone could point me in the right direction without have to purchase this entire allusive board. Already checked with Digikey, Mouser, Aliexpress, eBay. Any suggestions?
Mosfet specs are as follows:
