Nice one. I'm lucky to have a good VGA cable, as a couple others i've tried are quite blurry even at max sharpness.

I think i have another one coming in for the same price... This time an Acer, and it's likely only 1440x900, don't know the details yet. Keeping myself busy.

Need help replacing led strip on Iiyama Prolite XUB2390HS monitor
      by mikey5791
      Hi,
Got this working ips led monitor by the brand of
Iiyama Prolite XUB2390HS presumably a 23 inch type given to me with suspected bad led backlight. To test it, i unplugged the bad flat ribbon type connector and plugged it a good flat ribbon led connector scrapped from a HP Pavillion 27cw (led strip with 60 led). Good news is the HP led strip lights up but not fully, in between there are about 15 unlit leds.(as picture attached shows).

Fyi, i had not opened and removed the old bad led strip. My question is whether is it possible to cut some of the extra leds(say...

Xilence XP600 600w ATX PSU - No PWM Controller on primary side - how does it work?
      by dicky96
      Hi guys
I have a faulty Xilence ATX PSU here

The fault basically is I have two short circuit power transistors on the primary side of the large SMPS transformer - they are 2SC3320.

There is another smaller transistor on the primary side C3866 which tests ok

The PSU has three transformers - it looks like the 2SC3320's drive the big one and the C3866 drives one of the small ones. There is a separate PFC PCB with it's own controller and MoSFETS

There is also a short on the 3.3V output and a near short on 5V - I suspect this probably blew...

Could all new PC motherboards only require a primary 12V rail?
      by japlytic
This is a possibility, but future PC motherboards could only require a single 12V primary rail with +3.3V/+5V (-12V is only required for PCI slots (and certain cards thereof) but not PCI Express slots) switching regulator circuitry (which is now quite compact for their high output) on the motherboard with SATA power output connectors on the motherboard.
Most newer ATX (and related counterpart) power supplies over a certain wattage typically have a single primary rail of +12V which is then connected to independent +3.3V/+5V/-12V switching regulator modules; also, many hot swap server PSUs...

Xiaomi router freezes at boot after re-capping
      by hinisa
I'm using Xiaomi Router 4A gigabit edition as wireless repeater. It worked fine for 2 years or so, but last week, wireless started to disappear.

When I unplug/replug the power, it was working fine for a day/half a day or so until it freezes again.

After testing with different power supply adapters and concluding it wasn't the issue I finally opened the case and this was the situation:

Anyway I proceed to clean up the mess and replace all caps but unfortunately it made the situation worse. Now router can't even boot, either it freezes during...
