    Quick General Question about Troubleshooting

    Hey there,

I am trying to test whether the CFLs are the cause of my monitors peril. As shown in the pictures, the board has four slots dealing with CFL bulbs. Unfortunately one of the CFL sticks is visually cracked so I can only plug in one stick (of two plugs) and test, while the other two plugs are left empty.

My question is whether or not leaving the other ports open will trigger some sort of safety device to shutdown the CFLs completely after two seconds.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Will be attaching pictures as soon as they travel through the internet

Re: Quick General Question about Troubleshooting

If one lamp does not stay on after striking voltage is applied, the inverter circuits will shutdown, if the lamp draws too much current, it will shutdown, if it does not detect any current draw (lamp not connected) during striking, it will shutdown. So everything will have to function within first 3 seconds.

practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards
          by blues_spirit
          Hello from France,
mon2 kindly advised me to post a thread to ask the question(s) I'm concerned about. I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...
Do you think this is feasible for me? I...

(If anyone has a functional boardview file of FX505DV/DU that would be helpful)
(Had 3 problems, now just 1)

I have no experience or knowledge and usage of tools to repair devices besides the entire past 12-10 days of researching, watching YouTube repair videos and troubleshooting this laptop motherboard. ChatGPT was used as a guide to ask questions.
I used boardviews of mostly FX505GD-M, and some FX505DU, FX505DD. Used schematics of FX505DU.

I had originally intended to replace the BQ24780s first (due to previous battery removal while benchmarking) but I...

          A1466 820-00165 intermittent shutdown
          by cruiser_
          hi there,

Got this macbook after liquid damage. Nothing major, cleaned and reflowed what was suspect. Now, the laptop turns on and boots up but shuts off intermittently - sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after a few hours.
Can be immediately started from keyboard right after. Plug stays orange during this time. No battery.

          Gives shutdown cause -128.

Seem to work fine in SMC bypass.

Same shutdown happens with disconnected TP/KB/KBLED/CAM.

          Observations:
          - SMC_RESET_L - when pulled down - plug goes orange/green and...

          General panel/tcon troubleshooting question
          by jostewcrew
when troubleshooting tcon vs panel issues, there are many guides and pictures showing issues of both. There is one question i have in the troubleshooting method that ive overlooked the answer to, or there isnt a direct enough answer for me to grasp so here it goes...

when disconnecting the ribbon cables from the bottom of the tcon that lead to the panels (buffer?) boards, one at a time to see if any artifacts or image changes occur, i understand it to be that the act of an actual change itself is enough to point to the tcon board. except for a half black or white image caused by the...
