    SyncMaster 2043BW fixes

I've fixed two Samsung SyncMaster 2043BWs now for the same issue so I'm posting this here as a solution others can search for.

In both cases the symptom is no LEDs, no turn on at all. Power is connected but there is no blue power LED even when the stupid touch-button is "touched".

Culprit in these two cases are the SamWha GF 2 x 1000uF 16V. I can't believe these blow even on a 5.1V bus. They must really suck! So I replaced all Sam-Wha? caps but the two 2043 I had some different values on the tiny caps - it's like they just drop in what they happen to have on the line... that's QC!

    I replaced 4 x 470uF 25V with 2 x 1000uF,
    1 x 330uF 25V w/ 220uF 25V (so the total on the 15V bus stays around 2220uF)
    2 x 1000uF 16V w/ 1000uF 10V
    1 x 330uF 25V (on the 5.1V bus) w/ 330uF 25V I had spare
    then a bunch of other little ones I forget.. a 100uF 6.3V, 47uF 35V, 10uF 50V.
    All Rubycons or Panasonic FC/Ms

Hope this helps. Here's some pics. Wha???

    Re: SyncMaster 2043BW fixes

    Great job!
These cap failed not due to over voltage, but due to poor quality. If you check the ESR, they will be high. PANASONIC FM/FR/FC are my first choice for replacement with good track records.
You can learn more about why these caps are failing here:

It is still happening these days due to millions of them are still being sold in the markets.

        Samsung Syncmaster 740BF repair
        by soopacrucial
        Hi folks,

I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:

Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank. I seem to remember the blue power led would also go off when this happened but that I'm not 100% sure of. By pressing the power button I do remember I could at first get it working again but eventually the problem would come back. At the time I had read about...

I need to order some 1000uf @ 16 volt it has to be 8mm in diameter what is a good choice

Here is the page of capacitors that I can choose from what is a good choice for a FSP 400-60GLC
        https://www.digikey.com/en/products/...Xmc1YPJ6BlESoA

I try to use a 565-1664-ND which is a 10mm in diameter unfortunately it will not fit because there are two of them the same size and value and there is no room and they go to two different circuits not in parallel...

        Vizio M60-C3 Replacing 1000uF 16V with 1000uF 35V capacitors?
        by frannyjunk
Hi, my Vizio M60-C3 does not power on. No lights whatsoever. Upon opening up the TV, the power supply board has 4 bulging capacitors. Each is 1000uF 16V. I have read that one can use capacitors of the same uF and higher voltage rating, but is 1000uF 35V capacitor too high of a voltage rating? My local shop only has these higher voltage capacitors so would rather just buy the 35V variety if it is OK to use them.

Any thoughts if OK to use these higher voltage capacitors?

        samwha? in Samsung...
        by eccerr0r
I have an old apfc psu in a Samsung TV using Samwha WL-series capacitors. By inspection they are obviously dead. Oddly enough the other caps in the TV seem okay. Samwha appears to be a dubious manufacturer but are they? Their WL datasheet seems like they did do something to rate the capacitors but nevertheless they failed first, spectacularly.

As a proof of concept fix I'm tempted to replace them (two parallel 82uF 450V low esr) with two *series* 470uF 230V general purpose capacitors...

Should last an hour at least to prove the rest of the TV works, no?

        HELP: 330uF tantalum capacitors
        by dhan
        Hello Everyone,
I'm just a bit curious or let say uncertain for these caps.

I have tried to replace NEC tokin 0E907 with 4 pcs of 330uF 2.5V.
        the laptop works fine.

then another laptop (different laptop) came after a year, with the same issue.
but this time I have a different type of 330uF tantalum caps.

the one I've used before was 330 with small letter e on the markings.

e = 2.5V, but this time I have 330uF with letter d on the markings
d= 2.0V, right? correct me please.

the question is, does 4 x...
