Hp vs17e 17" LCD Monitor, No Power, Will not Turn On

Hello, I have a Hp vs17e 17" LCD Monitor That Will not Turn On. I Pulled it apart and immediately found three caps that were oozing. I assumed that they were on the 5v Rail being 10v caps, plugged board in out of the case, and Pulled out my multimeter, turned out correct they measured 5.1v, however I got a surprise when I hit the power button the 5v rail drops to 0.75v. Anyway, I am almost sure that those caps are the only problem on the board, as I was able to get the power light to flicker dimly with only the board connected.

    On to the Questions,

What Caps should I replace on the board? It's only a 17" monitor so I don't want to put too much money into it.

I think most of the caps in the list on this post are the same https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=92533

As for the 3 Caps that are Leaking and two other that might be raised slightly what do you suggest for replacements?

    2 Su'scon 1000uf 25v UK Series 105C Caps 13mm Round, Probably could go 15mm

3 CapXon 1000uf 10v KF Series 105C Caps 10mm Round I don't think it can go any bigger.

These Must be under 19mm High Might be able to fit a 20mm but it will be close to metal, Current Caps are both 16mm

    Thanks!

The OEM for HP seems to have combined the main board (scaler), power supply and inverter onto one board, I suppose to save a few bucks.Your first step would be to replace those caps, yes. Panasonic FC/FM/FR is a favourite here ("good" to "best"). I would consider CapXon and Su'scon replace on sight parts.

So which ones should I replace? It only a 17" so I don't want to spend a lot on it as I said.

The bulging ones, and then only the rest if it still gives problems.

they are not visibly bulged they still can be bad in ESR and in polarity example 1000m/fared --> can be only 200 m/f. the best move to make change them all. they are cheap anyway.

For the (2 Su'scon 1000uf 25v UK Series 105C Caps) I looked all over and finally found a datasheet [I attached the page] however the can size is not the same. How do I tell the specs? Also I can't find the Impedance.

These are the only Caps at digikey that are in stock and seem like suitable replacements.

                http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...144-ND/2796093

These have a 7.5mm lead spacing instead of 5mm, but I think I could squeeze them in.

                http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...0279-ND/266288

Looking for the Capxon datasheets now. Thanks!

Acording to this datasheet () the Maximum Impedance is 0.076 and the Maximum Ripple Current 1040mA for the Can size.

Which one of these should I use? The Nichicon seems better?

Are any other Caps on the Board that get a lot of use that are more important than others, and more likely to fail, that I should replace? Thanks!

The Nichicon is good, I myself use PANASONIC FM series, I would also replace all the caps in the secondary side all at the same time.

I'll look those up and get a list on digikey. The only question I have curently is about the 2 Su'scon 1000uf 25v UK Series 105C Caps (Post 8) if someone could answer that i would be grateful.

I would however all of the FM series are too high, even if I go up on the voltage. I guess I could put a piece of plastic on top so They don't touch the metal case, I might be able to fit them. However, they won't have any room at all.

I can't find the Specs on the 2 Su'scon 1000uf 25v UK Series 105C Caps either what should I do?

Bump for a old thread, I have a bunch of Caps I am going to be ordering from digikey. So I want to get a list together for this. I also got another one of these in so I will have a double order of whatever caps I get. The Second one works Suprisingly even though it has the same date code.

PANASONIC FR series may also have smaller body size available.

                                      OK I'll check on that.

I Also can't find the Specs on the 2 Su'scon 1000uf 25v UK Series 105C Caps either what should I do? What do you do if you can't find the Specs? Just replace them with a Low Esr Cap and assume it has to be better than the Su'scon Junk?

Yes, I will always trust the PANASONIC caps. I must have done close to a thousand monitors and TV combined now using nothing but PANASONIC caps.

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

                                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                          Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

LG 42LB5D (42LB5DF-UL) from 2008-01, unit is in good shape and no obvious heat damage or cracked solder on the boards.

                                          Problem:
On first power-up the power LED flashes green about 18x and then stays solid. No backlight or image is present. Click power button, wait 10s for a click and the LED turns red. Wait 1-2s and hit power again and maybe it'll power up fully after 6 green flashes. If it doesn't light up on the sixth flash then the cycle repeats.

It seems that if the mainboard power is left on for a few minutes (solid green power, no backlight, no image)...

                                          Hi everyone,

I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.

The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.

The system does not turn on, there is no post.

I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
The problem continues in the same way.
I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen....
