I have 3 old CRT 14" brought to me. Problem is slight ghosting of images at the CRT display, especially at the center. Problem is hardly seen at the periphery of the screen. Example: black letters on a white background have a reddish shadow to their immediate right. While I've done some TV repairs in the past, that was 20 years ago and I don't want to spend a lot of troubleshooting time on these dinosaurs. Which section of the monitor should I concentrate on?

Re: Ghosting at CRTs, where to concentrate?
Download Nokia Monitor Test and input the magenta convergence pattern. Do you see the red and blue lines separate at the center? If so, you have a convergence problem.
Convergence is tricky to do and affects the whole screen. It's going to take at least 1 hour per monitor staring into patterns. Problems usually appear in the corners so what you're describing is unusual, center convergence problems indicate that the magnets on the neck of the tube have been knocked loose, and those are really tedious to align. If they aren't any kind of specialty monitors, for 14" i wouldn't bother. For 21" Trinitrons, well, that's a totally different story...Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company.

by samolo75Hi,
I started posting in a different thread and I was told it was not the best ans the tv model and the fault did not match. I am copping here what I wrote.
After starting the TV it works ok for a few seconds and then starts showing ghost image with horizontal lines intermittently (except the very top). The frequency of the ghosting is steady, like every second or so, it goes from normal to ghosting every second and back.
The TV is a 49XE8096. I already did quite a lot of trouble shooting. And I got the doubt if the problem is in the panel or de Tcon.

by CheesesteakHello All,
Hoping one of you wizards might be able to help me, I'm new to TV repair, I'm trying to troubleshoot a ghosting/jumping image on a 4k 55in Sony XBR-55A8G OLED TV.
I have tried re-seating all cables, and lightly manipulating the cables while the TV is on to see if the picture changes with pressure on any of the cables/connectors. I also replaced the TCON board and the ribbon cables connecting the TCON board to the panel, the issue has not changed with the replacements or with any cable manipulation / re-seating.

by JackUziHi all,
First post so please bear with
So I found a similar issue on another thread but have been advised to open a new one so here it is.
One day this TV started doing this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42QlTOSOCjw
This happens on all inputs and menu screens.
Thank you to nomoresonys for previous advice - to check voltage on powerboard connector and possible loose/bad tab bond.
I've opened it up and tried reseating all the ribbon connections but the problem remains. I need some support in testing...2 Photos -
by SpodeHi All,
I have two Powerbook 160s where nothing seemed to be coming on to the screen. I have recapped the screen and invertor board with like for likes.
Both of them are now working, but I'm getting the kind of interference I would expect of a failing/failed screen.
I've documented as much as I can on this thread over at 68kmla (https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?thre...-screen.40029/).
I'm out of ideas and do with some help diagnosing.
I have:
