Dell 24" monitor with bad cap...

    Hi Everyone,

I hope someone can help me.

I've got a Dell monitor that has a capacitor I am struggling to identify. It is 45mm long and between 10-15mm in diameter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based strictly on the black color and the PW(M) on the label - it could be the Nichicon PW series : https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...382925d157.pdf

It should say on the other side of the capacitor more information - I would guess that it's around 220uF-330uF at about 250-450v (but again it's just a guess looking at the charts in the pdf and estimating the diameter, don't take my word for it).

Several brands have a PW series and the specs don't jive between them.
Nichicon PW are usually dark brown.
      So... What brand is it?

Those usually don't need replaced anyway.
Why do you think it's bad?

Re: Dell 24" monitor with bad cap...

Just revisited the monitor and found that it is an Elite 450V 120uF cap....

I know it's bad because one of the legs has corroded and is detached from the body, there is a 0.12 ohm resistor just after this cap on the PCB that is cactus as well.

Thanks for the fast replies too guys, much appreciated.

          This might work:

If 18mm is too wide, you might have better luck with this part from eBay, it is only 16mm, but it's off brand so YMMV:

For reference the data sheet says that Elite is 18x45mm and Ripple is 740 mA @ 120Hz.
            .
The PZ that mockingbird suggested is perfect.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
              by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
              by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

Issues Reviving Old Dell 2408WFPb Monitor
              by Jesus Coder
              Hello everyone,

I have been having some difficulties reviving an old Dell 2408WFPb PC monitor that I received for free. When I first acquired it, the backlights of the display were on but alas no image was showing. After extensive research on the topic, I went ahead and purchased a new t-con board for the monitor. After installing the board, I was then presented with a new screen that was half black and half green (more so black). I have been unable to figure out what to do next as I have limited knowledge of display electronics. Might anyone on this forum have an idea of what may...

Dell 34 inch U3419W Monitor with thin stripes on partial screen
              by ChristianBr01
              Hello everyone,
I have a Dell U3419W Monitor that has some thin stripes on a part of the screen since Tuesday.
This lines cover about a third of the screen and appear for 2 seconds before disappear for another 2 seconds.
This repeats the whole time. I have not opened the case yet cause I had no time, but will try to fix it on this weekend. For me, it looks like a problem on the TCon... Am I right?
Does someone have seen this before?...

              HP adapter for Dell monitor
              by paparazzo79
              Hi guys.
I got myself used Dell 27" touch monitor but I got scammed again, seller sent HP adapter.
Though voltages are the same, I suppose power supply design is not the same.
So may I use it without any harm to the monitor?...
