Samsung 2233sw Power on then off

Been looking over the forums and have found some with similar issues. My 2233sw powers on fine for 2 secs then off, light stays on but if I leave the monitor it remains the same. I get image with a flash light on the screen. This guy has similar issues and changing the inverter worked for him. But his was going off/on ever 20 or so secs where mine doesn't. Should that be the first thing to change? He has the exact power supply I have.

    EDIT:
Just found this link and changing a couple caps fixed his. Gonna try this first since its cheaper:

The problem described is 'two seconds to black'. Bad caps are one possible cause. I suggest performing a few simple tests before recapping unless there are obviously bad caps.

If there are bad caps, the usual recommendation is to replace all caps (with the exception of the large (100 uF, 450 volt one) with low ESR name brand caps. My preference is Panasonic FM, FR, or FC series. Nichicon, Rubycon and United Chemicon have equally good caps for this purpose.

Caps look good but like you said in another thread, doesn't mean they are. In the process of changing some of the caps.

replaced caps with no luck. I had a PSU from a different LCD that I was able to hookup to test the ccfl's. They came on and stayed on with it. So I guess that rules those two. I am reading some threads about testing the inverter and have tried with a multimeter but not sure I am doing it right. This is what I am getting:

        P301 to P302 = OL
        P301 to P303 = OL
        P301 to P304 = OL
        P302 to P303 = jumps around from .2 to .4
        P302 to P304 = fluctuates 8k+
        P303 to P304 = fluctuates 8k+

        S301 to S302 = 1.161k
        S301 to S303 = .192
        S301 to S304 = .192
        S302 to S303 = .192
        S302 to S304 = .192
        S303 to S304 = .898

I might not be testing it right but went in the order showing in post #18 in this thread.

You do remember I suggested making some tests BEFORE changing any caps, don't you? Perhaps now you will listen to some advice.

Note the picture attached to this post. Measure the resistance from S1 to S2. Write it down. Measure the resistance from S3 to S4. Write it down. Compare the two. If they differ by more than 3%, the transformer is bad.

Next, what what brand and series of capacitors did you use as replacements?

            Hello!

This is my first post to the forum so I hope I'm following the rules. I have the exact monitor (Samsung 2233SW) with the exact problem (any time there is a signal change, the display flashes for about 2-3 seconds then remains off). I have replaced the 1000uF (x2), 330uF and 820uF (x3) caps with no change. I also found a cheep controller board on Ebay thinking that was the other option (before I found this excellent forum)...installed it...no change.

Just tonight I followed your advice and measured the resistance as you indicated in the picture linked above. It looks like there is a significant variation between the two measurements (~19%), so I suspect the inverter is bad.

So, on to my question...I've not replaced an inverter before and I'm hoping you have some suggestions on how to select one for purchase and a few tips for the install. I will try to post a close up pic of the model information. In case I'm not allowed to do so yet (too noob) the text is: (line 1) TM-0815 (line 2) TNE 0848 D T

First off, are there other tests I should do before I buy a new part? If I end up needing to get a new one, do I need to find the exact match or is there another similar option? It will probably be obvious with a new part but which of the pins do I need to de-solder?

            Thanks in advance!

based on your Resistance readings, you need to replace the Transformer. You need the exact one by Part number which you have noted. You need not do any other tests.AS you indicate you can see which pns to unsolder when you get a new one.Ebay is a source for the part sometimes,as is http://www.lcdparts.net/T.aspx

Like Rtech said....Ebay is a good source. I posted a link. The first 2 are from China and would take a few weeks for delivery. The 3rd one down is from the USA and is 2 dollars more; but you'll probably have it within a week.

Excellent stuff guys, thanks! I've got one on the way. I'll post with the results once I've tested it.

                  Thanks again.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                        Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

                        Hi

Picked up another TV. Samsung UN43NU6950FXZA. No power and no standBy led on. Removed back cover and:
                        Main fuse = OK
Back light LED = OK. Power them with aux power source
                        LED output = OK 156V
I do get 12 V DC out of the power supply going to the digital section but no 5V or 3.3V. PS_on voltage is only 1.8V. I have looked everywhere on the PCB , I could not find i reference for 5V output.
Also removed connections to panel, speakers and remote but no luck. One strange thing is that even with the LED power supply working, backlight LED do not turn on...

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help I might get here

My Samsung TV is about 4 years old. The exact model number is UE75MU7009TXZG.
About half a year ago I started seeing occasional green frames pop up while watching movies. I mean literally green frames. Not the image turning green, but the entire screen turning green for a split second. This happened maybe once or twice during a 2 hour movie. So no big deal, but clearly something was not quite right.

Since a few days, the TV won't turn...
