    I'm Looking For A Part

    Hello All,

I have a part I need to replace on a LG 22" logic/video board. A friend is looking for it and I couldn't absolutely identify it. Contacted Digi-Key, they gave me two possible candidates.

    http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...ords=CTX088-ND

    http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...ords=CTX877-ND

Perhaps someone could help me narrow down to one? I'll provide a model number if that helps at all?

    Thanks As Always

That is a 14.31818 MHZ CRYSTAL
The two digi-key ones have the same load capacitance as the one you have.
as for which one is suited not sure maybe someone here can help.
    My pc
    CPU : AMD PHENOM II x4 @ 3.5Ghz
    MB : ASUS M4A89TD PRO USB3
    RAM : Kingston ValueRAM 16gb DDR3
PSU : Cooler Master 850W Silent Pro
GPU : ATI Radeon HD 6850

Without seeing and examining or a drawing or schematic of the circuit, you'll have to get one of each and see which one works.

CTX877-ND - Is for parallel resonant circuits, which require a load capacitance (18pF) in the circuit for the crystal.

CTX088-ND - Is for series circuits which do not need the load capacitance.

        Hello Again,

Thanks to all so far. The logic/video board is out of a LG W2252TQ. I haven't yet found a schematic for the logic/video pcb. I could try buying both crystals from Digi-Key but would love to just buy one and not both. Does anyone out there have the schematic for just the logic/video board?

Well, both crystals are under $1.00 each and shipping will probably be around $3.00. I can't see much of an excuse not to buy both.

            QFT!

            (My point to begin with)

Post a picture of the board showing the area around the crystal clearly. It should be possible to identify any load capacitors (if present).

Don't forget some crystals have the load capacitors in the case making identification more difficult.

The Bob Parker ESR meter is a prime example there is a place for two load capacitors on the board that are unpopulated because the crystal has internal caps.

In that case, he buys the wrong crystal, and has to reorder.
