Dell 3007wfp - Screen snapping and snow

    I have a Dell 3007wfp

My monitor works and the image quality is very good. However, the screen will "snap" several times an hour and about once/twice a day the display will snap and be covered with "snow" (see attached file). To get rid of the snow i have to power off and on the monitor and most times this works the first time. The monitor and computer are both plugged into a UPS power supply. The monitor is powered on 24hours a day and has been for several years. Would anyone happen to know what causes this? I have had this issue with the monitor connected to two different computers (one Windows server 2008 and Mac OSX).

A little more information would be helpful. "Snap" suggests an audible sound. Is that what you are saying, or are you saying there is a sudden change in the display with no accompanying sound?

The "snap" is a split second change on the screen. The screen does not go black but more like the "snow" covers the screen for a split and then back to normal. It is hard to say what is really on the screen because it happens so fast. there is no sound to this but it sure does feel like it there should be, like a pop. there is no one program that causes this to happen more than another. and my overall image quality had not decreased in anyway from what i can tell.

This sounds a lot like a bad solder joint that intermittently causes an open somewhere.

I suggest you open it up and post some photos of the power and video/logic boards per PlainBill's links in post #2.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
            by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

            by kilog
            Hello friends,

Last week when I tryed to start my CF53-MK2 it just stop starting
and when it starts it displays snow and dansing and coloured lines on the sreeen as you can see in the attached video.

Some time it may show the startup Bios screen for a 3 to 10 seconds and then immediatly starts to disply snow and coloured lines.

I tested the RAM it is correct.
I tried to hook the machine on a HDMI screen, nothing.
I am not sure that the computer goes far to be able to show anything on an additional monitor.

            Please I need your...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
            by smic717394
            Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

LG 55sk8000 plb ..snow in the middle of screen but can see that picture exists there
            by burbutsalos
            Hello everyone.

I have this TV set which has this issue. It shows a vertical bar im the middle of the screen.
The panel has 12 cofs and the problem seems to be on the territory of the first cof on the right side.
The tv fires up and you can see a good picture exept that vertical part where multicoloured pixels exist.
The strange thing there is that you can see behind that snow that it shows picture but as if there are these pixels in front so you cannot see clearly.

The effect is there even on a completely black screen.

            The screen...

            Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
            by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...
