    Hello to all community,

I also have a 2405 with a failed C605 and all the company of MOSFET and IC that it brought down. In this thread it was mentioned only ZD601 (15V). Even if the remaining Zeners should not be affected by the cap failure, I measured ZD602 and ZD603. Both are 24V, if anybody wanted to know.

    Cheers

Just a quick update: After have exchanged all components listed in #448 of this thread, the monitor powerd up! I'm writting this update with the newly repaied monitor. Totally amazing .

Ps. did change all caps on the power supply board, but not on the CCFL driver board.

@lipeng, please re-post in 2405 thread or make a new one.
Is this the same board you are working on?

I have a 7-8 yrs. old Dell 2405fpw monitor and also had problem with the power supply board. So far I changed the following components, but when put it back and tried to switch it on, nothing happens:

    C605 / 450TXW100MEFC18X35 CAPACITOR, RADIAL, (450V, 100UF, since I couldn't get a 120 uF at the moment)
    Q651 / STP10NK60ZFP MOSFET, N, TO-220FP
    IC651 / L6561D PFC 90UA START + DISABLE, SMD, 6561
    R670 / PNP1WVJT-52-0R22 RESISTOR, 1W, 5%, 0R22
    F601 / 0001.2510 FUSE, ANTISURGE, CERAMIC, 4A
    C622 / EEUFC2A1R0 CAPACITOR, RADIAL, 100V, 1UF

The fuse kept intact, but no indicates for any life of any sort, what could I else do?

    Success reviving Benq FP241W

Thanks to the posts in this forum, I was able to fix my Benq FP241W that wasn't powering on and saved a few hundred dollars on a replacement. The Benq FP241W uses the same power supply board as the Dell 2407 and I noticed brown leakage at the positive terminal of the 120uF 450V capacitor (C605) and the ceramic coating on R670 was flaked off. I replaced the components listed by elvena, micdis and others. I didn't test the components to see what had actually failed - I just replaced everything listed below.

Component ID / Replacement Part / Digikey Part Number

    C605 / Rubycon 450QXW120MEFC18X31.5 / 1189-1377-ND
    Q651 / STMICROELECTRONICS - STP10NK60ZFP / 497-5892-5-ND
    IC651 / STMICROELECTRONICS L6561D013TR / 497-4582-1-ND
    R669 / Panasonic ERA-8AEB1021V / P1.02KBCCT-ND
    ZD601 / Vishay TZMC15-GS08 / TZMC15-GS08CT-ND
    IC601 / ON Semiconductor NCP1200D100R2G / NCP1200D100R2GOSCT-ND
    R670 / Yageo PNP300JR-73-0R22 / 0.22AECT-ND
    F601 / LittleFuse 0234004.MXP / F2692-ND + F1504-ND fuse holder
    C622 / Nichicon UPS2A010MDD1TD / 493-5378-1-ND
    Q654 / Fairchild Semiconductor MMBT3906 / MMBT3906FSCT-ND
    D655 / Diodes Inc. 1N4148W-7-F / 1N4148W-FDICT-ND

As a precaution, I replaced these other caps on the power supply board:

    C711-C715 / Panasonic EEU-FM1V471 / P12415-ND

and these three caps on the CCFL driver board:

    ? / Nichicon UHE1V221MPD6 / 493-1579-ND

I'd never de-soldered/soldered surface mount components before, so I practiced for a while using a dead board. I found I had to be careful when de-soldering ICs and SMT transistors to avoid tearing off the contact pads.

Put your meter in diode mode and check to see if it is still tested out like Diode.

Please post good clear pictures of YOUR board. R615 is 0.22 Ohm resistor, so what do you read on your meter. Pictures of C611, ZD601?

Seeking Advice: Repairing Dell U3425WE Monitor with Faulty USB-C/Thunderbolt Ports
    by Borse2008
    Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice or opinions on what to do with a monitor issue I’ve run into. Apologies in advance is this crossovers a few forum categories.

I have a Dell U3425WE, which I've recently replaced with another model. That said, the original unit is still fully functional in terms of the display — it works perfectly over HDMI and DisplayPort. However, the USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports have stopped functioning correctly. The Issue:
    • The 90W Thunderbolt 4 port (circled in the photo) no longer charges or powers any device, including laptops or MacBooks.

Fried capacitor on Dell-5520. Guilty as charged.
    by Lapsmith
While installing new SSD's in my new to me Dell 5520 laptop, I dropped a screw which sparked and fried a capacitor. Yes, I know I should have disconnecte the battery first Doh!😡. The laptop runs fine, but I want to replace the capacitor asap. I ordered and received the replacement (10uF, 25V 0603). Since I also managed to burn up one of the pads it was soldered to, my main question is whether it is okay to solder this capacitor on top of another capacitor (same size, same function in circuit). Specifically, PC4428 is bad and no way to easily solder to the board. I would like to solder it piggy...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
    by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
    by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Issues Reviving Old Dell 2408WFPb Monitor
    by Jesus Coder
    Hello everyone,

I have been having some difficulties reviving an old Dell 2408WFPb PC monitor that I received for free. When I first acquired it, the backlights of the display were on but alas no image was showing. After extensive research on the topic, I went ahead and purchased a new t-con board for the monitor. After installing the board, I was then presented with a new screen that was half black and half green (more so black). I have been unable to figure out what to do next as I have limited knowledge of display electronics. Might anyone on this forum have an idea of what may...
