    benq fp91g+ screen white-out

Hi all, First post here! Im a 58y/o electronics tinkerer semi retired gold prospector and jack of all trades. This monitor I have was given to me dead as a doornail so I replaced all the electros except for the main rectifier cap on the main board, it worked OK for a few months then the menu display would keep coming on.I took it apart again and in doing so I broke in half the little black clasp/latch? It connects the display ribbon to the small display board(still with me?)ha! Ive got the ribbon held in with shims cut from a sheet of thin hard plastic! Try as I might I cant figure out how the original connecter works Ive never come across this type before (anyone?) Someone has had this apart before and broken the silver tape at the top on the back of the display its split in half the full length and wont stick when Ive tried to repair it. Is this needed for an earth? would changing the caps on the small display board be of any help in fixing the menu issue? Ive changed monitors to see if it was the computer but its definitely the Benq gone bung At one stage the display would fade out as if the ribbon connecter wasn't connecting properly but it would lose all power? Is it the earth? Any help will be appreciated. redrooster.
