    Problems opening Viewsonic VA903B-2

    Hi All,

I have a busted unit and am quite sure that replacing the caps is going to fix most of the problems.

First issue is how to remove the front of the display.

I have unscrewed everything on the rear and the unit seems quite determined not to fall apart yet.

Exploded views from the service manual indicates some recessed tabs attaching the front bezel to the rear molding.

I am being vary wary about jamming in a screwdriver because I know I am damage the appearance of the unit.

Any pointers how to gently take this unit apart will be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

If it's like other Viewsonics, it's very difficult. There are several methods to separate the two pieces of the case - thin bladed screwdriver, putty knife, 'case popper', credit card, and my favorite, guitar pick. By starting at the bottom any evidence of prying will be hidden.

I really don't have to ask permission.
          But:
I could afford the $2 to buy a dozen or so at goodwill to scatter about my tool boxes anyway.
          .
          Much cheaper than screwdrivers even....

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
            by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

KDM 480W PSU upgrade succes! (opinions?)
            by bauto601
Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....

Bose Companion 5 - Unit Powers On then Cuts Off Shortly After
            by nobbnobb1
            Hi guys,

Trying to salvage a Bose Companion 5 computer speaker system that powers off shortly after powering on. It's got a primary USB input (built in DAC) and an aux 3.5mm input. The USB appears to be the primarily source that tells the unit to power on (control pod LED goes green) as the unit has no power switch.

When I first connect power to the unit, plug in the USB, it will play audio nicely for a minute before it drops out and the unit appears to go into standby (control pod LED goes red). It stays in standby and I cannot seem to power it back on without physically...

            USB problems?
            by Hondaman
Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...
