    Sceptre X24WG-1080P Problems

    Well Howdy from Montana!
As a result of finding this fantastic resource, several purchases have been made of broken gear. Because I am a cheap bas...;.

I have read many success stories on this board and that's what hooked me.

With the introductions out of the way, here is my problem:
When the power button is pushed the led comes on and rig seems like it's warming up but no picture then the led just starts flashing.

Upon opening the case I removed the psu and can visually see no problems. So that's where you board angels come in. Can someone point me in the direction I should go to fix this rig?

    Thanks in advance!

    1) Hookup a working computer with your favourite wallpaper as the desktop to the lcd. Can you see the image if you shine a flashlight on it?

    2) Do you have a multimeter? If yes, what are the DC voltages on connector CN801 (all 11 pins).

I suspect that part of the board is darkened from heat but the light is too dim for it to be seen in the pictures. Any capacitors in a darkened area are likely bad.

I don't like those purple Hermei with the fake Panasonic T-vent either and that's where I'm expecting the discoloration.

Ok, I was going to check the pin voltages as stated but I don't know which ground to use. I'm guessing the one in the connector.

It's been raining here so I have not got a good clear closeup of the underside of the psu, yet. I will asap.

One more question can I check these voltages out of the unit or must I hook it all back into the monitor? The way this unit is designed is the psu mounts to the rear cover and has cables that go to the lcd. So checking it all connected I will have to set the live psu on the back of the lcd with cardboard or something to insulate it.

          Thanks again for all help!

Use a ground screw for ground.

We prefer if everything is hooked up. Use cardboard or something to insulate the boards so they don't short out.

Just communicating with you folks fixed my monitor!!!

I reassembled the unit today as per retiredcaps and hooked it up to a computer and much to my good fortune it is up and running. Great picture, no glitches!

              WOW!

So I want to thank you very much for your help!!!

Now my LG 42" plasma TV went out a week ago. I have since pulled it apart and I see several bloated caps. Parts are on the way and I'll be installing them soon. If anyone is interested I'll start a thread.

              Thanks again!

Yes, start a new thread even if you fix it. I'm always interested in what boards look like inside.

                  Re: Sceptre X24WG-1080P Problems

Well the only thing and I mean only thing I found was the connector that went from the switch board to the psu was not seated properly. As for any other visual problems, there weren't any. So that's all I know.

I'm not an electronics tech by any means, but this stuff is already broken and I'm willing to go inside and learn!

                  Thanks again!!!

                    USB problems?
                    by Hondaman
Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...

Lenovo 11e problems (any sata hdds are not recognized, sleep battery drain)

Need help to solve some problems with this laptop.

After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)

Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)

Before this had happened I observed some other problems:
When I tried replacing original mecanical HDD with a SSD HDD could not get them...

                    Sceptre 48" TV backlight LED`s
                    by spirittoo
Trying to fix a backlight problem with a Sceptre 48" TV.

I found replacement strips with the same part number as the strips in the Sceptre, but the new backlight strips have 5 leds per strip and the ones in the tv has 6.

So I decided to replace the leds instead. I found 3 bad ones. I had no problem removing the bad ones with a heat gun, they came right out. However the leds on the replacement strip would not come out with heat. I use my solder iron as well, they will not come off.

Anyone know how I can remove those leds without damaging them?

Sceptre X505BV, blue LED, no display
                    by tom_h
                    Hello all,

I have a Sceptre X505BV-FMDR8HJ1PE8 tv that had been gradually over time taking longer
and longer to come on, now it will no longer display any image. Original symptoms
are the red standby LED would turn to blue immediately when pressing the power on
button, but there would be a delay for the "SCEPTRE" image to appear on the screen
and backlight to come on. The delay kept getting longer, then it would go from blue
LED back to red. Then when I pressed the power on button again it would bring the
                    display up and work fine....
