I just finished fixing my Gateway FPD2485W/LP2407 with the 2 seconds to black problem and while I was waiting for parts I pulled out my old Dell 2005fpw display that works but was put in retirement because it would take 5-10 minutes to warm up and during that time the display would be compressed to use only the middle third (horizontally) of the screen and would be rolling vertically (thinking it looks like playing with the vertical hold on old TVs) eventually the display would become less and less compressed until it gets to is full width while the rolling slows down and eventually, about a minute after it gets to the full width will finally be completely stable (for days) until it is turned off for 20 minutes or put to sleep for more than an hour. It doesn't matter which input I try (DVI, VGA, composite)
I noticed someone reporting something similar in this thread but he seemed to have another power issue as well and I don't know if it was ever solved.
Before opening it I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I know you like pictures each time but I'm not sure I am up to doing anything other than replacing the caps and if you think it is something else I probably won't bother with it for a while as I'll probably put it back into retirement.
