Create a "How to post a problem" sticky?

    Hello all you fellow repair-junkies!

So as I've been look through all the current threads I noticed a majority of them you see the same thing. "Please post pictures using our forum and post them as attachments", check for this, check for that, etc.... I myself was guilty of doing this my first post. So I was thinking maybe we should have a sticky with "How to post a problem" and also have a quick "If you're experiencing this, check this" guide.

I have a few LCDs around that have different symptoms and would be willing to take pictures, but I don't quite have the technical background to say what it could be and what to check.

While the thought is good, there are several issues. The major one is "How do we get someone to read the sticky before posting?" And even then, some people don't believe in following suggestions, even when very good reasons are explained.

As far as the problem monitors you have, I'm sure you know enough to include a concise description of the problem. With that, the pictures, and an explanation of what you have already tried, it is easy to come up with the next steps.

I'm not sure it would be effective creating a troubleshooting tree. They assume a significant technical background. It is easy to say 'Check input fuse', but by the time you cover all possible configurations the thread would be rather long.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

Here is a recent post that I think provides excellent info for a post #1

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Ya, I see your point Bill, I just wish there was a way to organize the information and have to somewhere to reference to. Like for me, I have 4-5 LCD monitors laying here that I don't know what to do next, and I don't want to plague the forum with threads for each one. So maybe I'll just have to write up my own and keep it for myself.

@retiredcaps: That is an excellent first post and it would be nice to have everyone follow that format, but like Bill said, not everyone reads stickies or will take the time.

Nothing wrong with starting a new thread for a monitor. One thread I recently saw was for a Dell E172? monitor, which ran 23 pages! Too much! Just provide good photos and a clear description of the problem. You've probably read enough threads where you pretty much know what info is required to give you the fastest, most accurate response.

I agree. That is kind of confusing. But it is worse when Thread refers to Monitor "A" and then someone jumps in and says "I have monitor B with the same problem and ...."....that's where the issue starts to get hairy ....

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
                by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
                3. Problem: TV shuts down

                i have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

                Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                Lenovo T580 - LCD Panel problem - error 0288
                by perzyk23
                Good morning,
I have a problem with Lenovo T580, which after error code 0288 suggests a problem with the display. I checked the display and it works on another laptop. I replaced the display cable with a new one. I programmed another BIOS (downloaded from this forum) and I still have the problem of a dead display - there is an image via HDMI, and the system does not detect the built-in LCD at all. The problem appears to be hardware. What can I check to confirm or disprove this? I found many threads on the Internet related to this problem 0288, but without specific solutions. Please advise....

                Dell 15R-5521 keyboard problem (KBC?)
                by SDNarcia
Hello, I have a Dell 15R-5521, with the problem that the Ctrl, Alt, Shitf and Num Lock keys do not work, I tested the keyboard with a keyboard tester and it is functional, I also got another new keyboard and the computer has the same problem with the same keys. Check continuity between the ZIF connector from the keyboard to the KBC and all pins are correct. I cleaned the ZIF connector and the KBC and I still have the same problem. I reinstalled windows just in case, and it didn't work. I updated the BIOS to the latest version A16 and there were no changes.

                As additional information,...
