    fpd2485w cycling solid colors

HI i have a fpd2485w gateway monitor that when i turn it on cycles solid colors on the screen over whole screen. the whole screen is a solid color then it cycles threw differnt colors over and over. i looked at all the caps and dont see any that are bulged or leaking. does any one have an idea of what could be causing this. when i turn it on the power button turns blue and the menu button comes on for 2 seconds then goes out and none of the other buttons are lit except the power button.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you hookup a working computer with your favourite wallpaper, can you see it by shining a flashlight on the lcd?

      1. Interesting handle. Did that happen sliding down the pole?

      2. It sounds like the monitor may be in test mode. No, I have no idea how to get it out of test mode.

      3. With all due respect, I no longer trust a statement that the caps look perfect. I've gotten burned on that once on the identical monitor. Note the links in my signature on how to take superior pictures, and how to attach them.

Have you tried using different inputs?

It does it with nothing or computer hooked up with differnt inputs. i will try to get pictures up tommarow. it does kinda seem like some kind of test mode. i see they have a cap kit for this monitor on ebay with all the caps needed. do you think this is worth a try?

Not until there is more evidence to say yes or no.

edit: Still waiting for pics. Also, some of the ebay kits only replace the caps on the power board and not the logic board.

I agree. If you are going to replace caps, replace those on the signal (logic) board too.

I have seen this before in a repaired HP monitor and this was indeed test mode.
I got out of it by trying to press different combination of buttons. Since it had only 4 buttons it did not take long to find the right combination.
                Hope this helps.

I will get some pics up when I get home from work today.

The only button that lights up is the power button. All the buttons are touch sensitive and if there not lite up I don't think they will do anything.

Is there any way to reset it like resetting a motherboard in a laptop.

I think you are jinxed. The photos look like they have been through some artsy photo effect.
