Well, replaced all of the said caps minus the primary with Panasonic FC. I'm still getting the same orange light after a few seconds. Aside from the possibility that the primary failed, I'm stumped.

Let's have a look at the logic board.
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Can we get some pics of the entire power (top and bottom) and logic boards? No inline pics, use PlainBill's links in post #12.

Also, do you see any evidence that the backlights are attempting to start, like a brief flash?

Does the backlight flash on for 2 seconds like before?

I'll get some pics up first thing tomorrow.

Yes, the backlight does come up for a second or two. Displays "RGB No Input Signal!".

Hookup a computer and verify you can see the image. If you can see the image, then you have what is called "2 seconds to black".

It is not uncommon for a LCD monitor to have more than one problem. Your first one was the bloated caps. The second one could be a bad inverter transformer or bad ccfl/wiring. See post #13 and #14 at

on how to begin. I would focus on sections #4 and#5 to start.

Wait a minute! In post #1, you said the big cap read "well below 100uF, more like .1 nF".

Did you not order a replacement cap if the uF is reading well below spec? If you did order the big cap, why did you not replace it as well?

                    Re: Optiquest Q7 Power Supply

I went on the assumption that it was unlikely bad. I remember testing it with a meter and getting a reading of 98uF once and every other time being in the nF range. I'll order a replacement.

Before you order a replacement, with a computer hookedup do you see an image during "2 seconds to black"?
