    LG L196WTQ-BF Strange issues.....

First off, hello all. I have read here for quite some time and always found this site helpfull.
    Now to the Issue.
    I am working on a LG monitor. 19" Wide Screen. # L196WTQ-BF
This unit powers on, and I can see the screen LG logo ect... for about 2 maybe 3 seconds. then dark. But the Power LED stays on. I have already replaced every Cap on the power supply, with the proper ones. (Before it wouldn't even power up.)
I have ran this as a test. I disconnected the CC Lights from the inverter, and connected only one at a time to one or the other inverter output. Heres the interesting part. the TOP inverter seems to have no output, but the bottom one lights both lamps fine. BUT!!! this only has one transformer... could half be blown?
And Just How do I test the blue Caps on the secondary side of the inverter? Maybe one of them is open or shorted.......
This is the Inverter Number AIP015 And here is a pic of what one looks like http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php...onitor-repair/ I am using that site just for the pictures to show you all what I have.
Thanks for all your help so far, hope this one can also be repaired.

using a Meter on about the 2K(2000)ohms Resistance Range. You will note the Transformer has 8 pins .The 4 central ones are the input, and the 4 outside ones are the output to the lamps. These type of Transformer do fail, and usually the output side.Place the meter probes on the two outside pairs, and compare the resistance readings. If there is a difference of greater than 5% betwenn them, suspect the top one in your case will be way off the lower lamp pair, then you have found the problem

I actually removed it last night and tested it. The outputs read 1019 Ohms and 1116 Ohms. Inputs tested and they matched each other. I noticed something, it appears that the inputs of the transformer get power from the same place, they are connected togather. So that seems to be pointing to the output side. Or am I wrong.

You are right. Also notice that the resistance of one secondary is about 10% lower than the other. It is very likely that the transformer with the lower resistance is bad.

K, so I tested that Transformer again. and now its open on the one secondary..... So does anyone have a good used one I could get?

This is one of the problems with modern day electronic equipment, particularly with a lot of production being in China etc, that although it is comparitively easy to find replacement parts for mosfets, transistors etc, when it is a 'special' part, like an output transformer, you have got a problem.

The other way to confirm whether it is the transformer,is to take it out, reverse it,put it back, and does the fault change to the other lamp circuit ???.

Is there a number on the transformer? Prices for these can range from reasonable to ridiculous. At least TRY to find a new one.

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
                  by FrancescoV
                  Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
                  M:1.00/11107BLP
                  D:?.??/????????
                  O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

                  Wavetek 130 Output issues
                  by technodruid
                  First post!

Last night I finally got a chance to try out a wavetek 130 that I purchased a year ago or so after finally getting unpacked from a move. It was working really well, I was testing the various settings from the 50 ohm output into my rigol scope and it seemed to be fairly accurate. I was stepping through the course adjust from x10 to x100 and sweeping the dial looking for any distortions or drops/rises in amplitude. It all looked great.

Then when i switched to the 1M setting, the sine wave disappeared. I moved back to x100k and the sine wave was still gone. Something...

KDM 480W PSU upgrade succes! (opinions?)
                  by bauto601
Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....

                  NTE Electronics “NTE5251K” Zener Diode 9.1V @ 50W Do-5.5% Want to build a 9.1 output from a 9.6 lipo4 battery pack
                  by sam_sam_sam
I have bought this Zener Diode for this project what size and wattage resistor value do I need to use to get near 50 watt output
I bought this from an eBay seller but unfortunately they only had one

I bought three from Vetco Electronics these are Sylvania ECG5185A 9.1@10w A to Stud what size and watt resistor do I need to use to get near 10 watt output
I bought three of from them to also make battery packs with this output power limit in mind

I want to use this battery pack and turn it into a 9.1 output battery pack output to eliminate using 9 volt battery...

is it ok to replace a dual output transformer with two single output transformers?
                  by amelbye
Hi, some prestory: I was repairing an amplifier - a "Phil Jones Bass". It had some bad capacitors an a faulty power switch. Easy job. However upon putting it back together I screwed up. The connector from the 15V-0V-15V from the transformer is identical to the audio ouput from the preamp board to the poweramp board. I ended up putting +-15VAC into the preamp outputs frying some traces on the circuit board along with the power transformer The transformer is shorted. It blows the fuse immediately even with no load on the secondary.

                  Now that's a challenge - luckily...
