    Klipsch 4.1 computer speakers hissing.

Looking at all the caps on the amplifier, they all seem flat, except one maybe.

Not sure if this is leakage, or factory marker pen.

    Can you tell?

The speaker system recently developed nonstop hissing noise. after 22 years.

Is there a special kind of cap I have to buy?
    Low ESR? or general?

I see these for sale.... Panasonic FC 47uF 50v low ESR radial Capacitors caps 105C New low impedance

Capacitors rated for 85°C are always "general purpose" capacitors (a capacitor grade).
You should not replace them with low ESR capacitors because the circuit might not be designed to handle that.
I would recommend United Chemi-Con KMG series capacitors, but really any "general purpose" series of capacitor from a reputable brand should do just fine.
It is likely that after so many years at least the small capacitors have dried out inside, then they wont bulge, but still be just as dead

shoot. I just ordered some panasonic 105c
because that was the only thing for sale

would this cause a domino effect of failure in the other caps?

Usually linear supplies are not sensitive to low ESR, only one way to find out

            bad confirmed

            old samxon 47uf measured 9uf.

replaced with panasonic 47uf low esr.

seems to be working. knock on wood.

              welp. old cap was bad

but it didn't fix the issue. buzzing still comes and goes.

Maybe there are other bad caps.

the other 47uf cap was also bad, but not bloated.

                both 47uf measured 9uf.

both caps replaced now. Didn't hear the loud hissing when plugging in the sub.
hopefully fixed for good this time.

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 rhythmic subwoofer "pulsing" during standby
                  by Xan03
                  Hi,

I have this 2.1 Klipsch set where the subwoofer emits a constant whine in standby, in addition to a constant rhythmic pulsing/thumping. Only way to make it stop is to cut power. I think this thread mentions the same issue, though my set is not a BT one: https://community.klipsch.com/index....-bt-subwoofer/

I think all this Klipsch gear is using crappy capacitors. Is it worth trying to replace the caps in the subwoofer amp to make this go away?

Klipsch RSW-12 subwoofer won't power on
                  by scubabuzz
I have a Klipsch RSW-12 subwoofer that will flash the LED red when the power switch is turned on and once in a while will create a pop out of the speaker. It does not blow the fuse so I am assuming this is probably a power supply issue. Does anyone know if there is a service manual and/or schematics available for this unit?

I've got a subwoofer that I've had for nearly 20 years, it did come with a basic remote which I've lost. It's a generic make of subwoofer, I can't see a brand sticker on it. It comes with 2 speakers.

Question recently I've connected it up to my tv which has greatly improved the sound on my tv, however I'd like to be able to mute the subwoofer when ads come on or just mute it when the phone rings etc. I tried using a cheap all in one tv remote on the subwoofer and the volume button would only work to increase volume but not turn it down or mute it

                  Is there a way of...

                  buzzing/hissing laptop (headphones)
                  by mosfetratus
                  Hello,

plugged-in laptop buzzes/hissing through headphones, when using heavy 3D applications. Buzzes when switches to headphone jack (when plugged in).

Unplugged from power supply doesn't buzz. Normal use (browsing, movies..) doesn't buzz.

Even with sounds to 0, same buzzing is still audible.
