Hi all....I have been using my Behringer mixer quite comfortably for a number of years now and generally it's been trouble free apart from a replacement crossfader. Recently input three channel fader began to bleed a little and causing the mixer to light up like a Christmas tree! I realise the unit is ageing now and although I'd put some hours on it over the years it's not been abused. Following the issue I planned on replacing the faders and ordered the necessary parts. In the meantime whilst awaiting the replacements I continued to use the mixer up until the channel fader started to give feedback as if there was an earthing problemand as mentioned lit up like a Christmas tree but with a gentle tap would return to normal operation except for a little bleeding and crackling. I decided best not to use any further as could begin to cause damage. Having received my parts I powered up prior to starting the repairs and to my surprise the problem had become worse. After opening up the mixer I thought it best to check some of the components with my multimeter and discovered that a number of capacitors had for some reason shorted around the suspect input three...aaarrrghhhh bo##ox...gutted! Now I have new parts which I am now reluctant to exchange until I have traced the culprit/s that caused the caps to blow. Am now awaiting replacement SMD caps prior to even beginning to think about the faders.
I expect it maybe time to retire my old faithful to mixer heaven but without first identifying what caused the problem to begin with it will send me a little 'off key' with the not knowing even if I'm chasing a lost cause...plus I'm stubborn.
Therefore if anyone has any input I'll be happy to receive, also the possibility of locating the whereabouts of a schematic would be helpful and much appreciated.#
Stay safe all.
