Also S4-1 SYSTEM VERSION is having the same problem, displaying "----" as well as S4-10 DSP2 VERSION displaying "-------" S4-11 DSP2 CHECKSUM showed a value of "8A7BC1FA" after several minutes.

I'm swaying towards IC521 being at fault here. But then could this be a general firmware issue? Kinda sketchy running an update on faulty hardware, could brick the remaining good chips if that DSP2 is messed up.

I've pulled the board with DSP2 chip on it. Maked D81YK113BZKB400. I've had a very very similar if not the same chip fail on a Denon or Onkyo unit where a test was to heat it up and sound was coming back, while reflow would bring it back for slightly more time. Replacement was needed regardless.

I have performed a reflow of that BGA IC. No change in behavior tho. Hmmm....

Getting somewhere, completed some of the tests from service menu. Unit failed to output any sound using the internal noise generator through the DSP. Then I went to do the test of DSP from page 54. Test section C2-1 BUS DSP2, the result is that it is stuck on the "Checking" indicating "--" while other tests take max few seconds for the result. Looks like this is the issue. All the tests from section C1 completed successfully with no errors.

    Will do tomorrow.

For future reference, safe and fast mirror of the full service manual: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...6c52f6ab07.pdf

The easiest thing to do is to go through the service menu tests. That will narrow the possible causes..
pg26 form the SM shows the service menu structure
pg36 explains each option and what results should be expected.

Sorry guys, I'm using strict adblock and do not see any internet shit.
I tried uploading the manual on the forum, but no luck with the file size limit and thought this free file upload service was fine.
I do not know if I'll be able to remove the link now, and just to stay safe - download the manual from here https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_li...rx-a3010.shtml ( requires free registration ).

p.s. the edit option for the previous post has expired
Here is what I got on the anonfile link when I click on the "download"... I was not aware there was spam, malware or garbage. Again, I'm sorry about that.
And I highly suggest that everyone should have an adblock installed on all devices!

I'm starting to think the op doesn't really want to fix the unit or lacks the necessary knowledge and skills to do so.
Also I suspect he does not have the service manual, so I'm uploading it for him ( credits go to hifiengine ).

I'm gonna write this one last time - check the voltage rails on the main PCB!
Before that, go to the service menu and do the tests!
This will show you at least which components are experiencing issues.
Download the service manual, read it carefully, and do the tests. As I said before - there are even test signals which are put through all or individual channels.

Page 97 from the manual - here is the power supply schematic. I counted 20+ ICs on the digital(main) board which you should check if they generate the correct voltages.

Reset procedure was completed successfully but the unit behaves the same, still no audio output. Currently I don't have a HDMI source to test those inputs that way, will look for some.

As for the headphone test, just tried it with stereo analog input and the result is the same - no audio on headphones.

one other thing about the "headphone test"... you indicated no sound from the headphones.... BUT you need to try an iinput of analog (and see an input signal identified on the status screen). This may help narrow down where the issue lies depending on the outcome.

hopefully a full reset will help. there isn't much to go on for the err10 other than an internal error but doesn't point to any specific area which would have been nice. Guess yamaha wants the service work.... :-) Your "coax" test is somewhat telling that the front end has issues (ie. pre processor)... again an hdmi input might be better as then your are dealing with a specific "standard" and you may be able to narrow down where that is on one of the boards. Further, the hdmi standard has things like "5v" associated with it that might point you closer depending on what the result is.

Also, as suggested by the previous poster, does the speaker check / setup / test signal work?

Further, what comes out of the headphone jack? Does the unit indicate a change in terms plugging in or out of the headphone jack?
I've used coax input this time to test (known good source that actually works on my onkyo right now) and this was the result, to me it did not recognize it at all. I correctly switched it from analog to coax in setup of AV1 input.

Plugging in headphones results in relays switching, I assume speaker cutout. So it does recognize them, yet no sound from headphones.

I did look into that feature, looks like a gimmick name for headphones output to me.

I also somewhat tried to find a complete reset option, but I just cannot find it, manual does not really help in this case either, or I'm just blind.

I have an original IPAO Yamaha mic from another set that I had since new, upon plugging in it immediately asked me if I wanted to perform the automatic process of speaker calibration, I confirmed. Maybe a minute passed and this popped up:

You should be able to generate test signal to each speaker output from the service menu.
Did you check the voltage rails on the main board? There should be 5 or 12V ( not sure about the value, check the SM for the exact number ) coming from the standby power supply and probably the main transformer which are then converted to 1.8v, 3.3v, 5v, 7v etc. You should check all of that rails and for ripples.

    Yamaha RX V675 sound issues
    by jjne
I have an old Yamaha RX V675 receiver which is starting to develop issues with the sound, although it doesn't quite match up with what folk normally report with these.

From cold, the sound cuts in and out. When this happens the amp is losing sync with the optical input (speaker graphic disappears from the front panel). But this is not resolved by putting the unit into pure direct mode. After a couple of minutes this resolves, although there are occasional clicks from the speakers after that.

At first I thought it was either a speaker relay or the DSP, but I don't think...

    YAMAHA CLP-550 without of sound
    by AlexVG
    Hi.
I have an old YAMAHA CLP-550 without sound. (Some times I can get some kind of noise or distorted sound)
I have replaced all green marked elements, but it gave me nothing.
The IC12 chip LC9116A-105 (red marked) remains under suspicion yet.

But it is custom YAMAHA's chip, and I can't find any information about it.
Maybe somebody came across with the same issue?
Any information will be very useful. I will be very appreciated.
    Thank you....

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
    by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Yamaha MOX8 boot freeze and distorted sound
    by maleksa
My Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.

Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.

Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...

Yamaha RX-A1030 working, no sound output
    by Rupsenkind
Hi all, I've started this new thread in order to avoid further polution of thread "Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output"
    Just to recap:

No sound through Audio and AV analogue inputs, only sound when 2ch stereo or pure direct is activated (so no sound when I e.g. choose 7ch of Hall in Munich etc.). Hoever when I connect HDMI I've sound in all options (movie, music, eyc.) First suspicion was the DSP chip/PCB so I bought a scrap 1030 with a good functioning PCB (in this one a driver stage was defective (PRT DC: 67), after I swapped the PCB I've performed a factory...
