Issue:
Disc is showing as not supported when a disc is put in.
Here's what I've done, you can skip this if you just wanna know the question:
- replaced with a disc drive from a donor ps5 (honestly questionable if this is known to work)
- reflowed the disc drive connector
-reflowed the chip in question (shown on image)
- I will say this console was very dusty so it's conceivable that it got so hot that it made the chip joints cold and potentially other things on the board

Can I replace a ceramic disc cap with a multilayer ceramic cap? I cant even find .047 uf disc caps at digikey, mouser or newark. The places I do find them want anywhere from 25c to $3 each, at any quantity, plus shipping....

Hello all. I'll try to keep this short. I have no knowledge of electronics. I can use a multimeter and am familiar with caps to some extent. I bought a Kenwood KR-6030 vintage stereo. It need work and so I thought I would recap the thing since I get power to the on switch but nothing else is working. No lights, no sound and so forth. I went to Mouser to order caps and I find I am way over my head. I not only do not know the type of capacitors I need but Mouser and digikey do not accept Kenwood part numbers. I was given an Aiwa Z-R700 from the 1990s era to look at by someone who said the twin tape deck did not work. The whole unit unit powered up ok but there was nothing from the tape deck. I had a look and found all the belts broken, I replaced the belts and then put the tape deck back into place and it still does not work. Also when I now power up the unit all the lighting on the front is very dim and the cd player and the tuner as well as the tape deck do not work. I have checked all the connections and ribbon cables again, there are no burnt or swollen capacitors. Maybe there are capacitors on...
