    Cress Audio Vs900

    Hi there,

I have a cress Audio Vs900 amplifier which has power issue and need some guidance in it's repairs. The problem is that the surge protector onboard has burnt out (I don't know what caused it), however, I replaced it with another I removed from another power supply (both resistors had no ratings on them) which burned out as well. I then removed it and soldered the connection and now the amp powers on and off consistantantly. Can anyone guide me on what step to follow next? I believed that something else gone bad on the board.

    Thanks

Are you sure that's not CresT?

You can find the service manual over here:

Any chance you could snap a couple of (well-focused and glare-less) photos of that "surge protector"? I'm not sure i can see anything like that in the above-linked document. I'm guessing it's on the primary (mains) side of the power transformer?

Help troubleshooting an audio problem with an RCA SGT-250 CED Player
      by samson7point1@yahoo.com
The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...

Upgrading Whole Home Surge Protector MOVs (Eaton CHSPT2SURGE)
      by nobbnobb1
I have a whole home surge protector (Eaton CHSPT2SURGE). This is the lower end model as compared to the CHSPT2ULTRA. When I took it apart, I noticed it's basically the same PCB as the higher end model, just missing the extra MOVs for higher capacity. Coincidentally, I have a pack of brand new Bourns 20D241K MOVs laying around:
      https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/d...0D241K/2799098

The only thing I noticed is that these Bourns MOVs are not thermally protected with a fuse. I'm wondering if it's safe to just simply install these extra MOVs for extra capacity,...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
      by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Roland KR-3500/4500 Digital Piano. Crackling audio sound on all keys -Fixed
      by i_am_patch
Hi All. I had a Roland KR-3500 Digital Piano (similar to the KR-4500) that exhibited a Crackling audio sound on all keys. After reading somewhere about someone with a similar issue who had replaced all the Electrolytic caps I decided to also go down that route. (Spoiler : It worked !) After some basic troubleshooting I determined that it could be noise feeding thru from the Keyboard scanning since the Demo tunes played back undistorted and the Audio amp / speakers were fine ( Inserted an Audio signal into the rear Audio input). After extracting the main board from the shield, I replaced 7 Capacitors...

Monitor Audio RSW12 - Green light but no audio
      by MOSSEP
      Hi

Im hoping someone might be able to give me some idea of what may be wrong with my Monitor Audio RSW12 Sub.

Ive owned it since new in around 2002, so would really like to keep it running if I can, it was the first ‘decent' bit of audio equipment I ever purchased and is a little sentimental.

The issue I had was that it would power up with the red light, but sometimes the green light would not come on and I would get no bass from it. If the green light did come on though, I would get sound out of it.

I have already tried replacing all of the...
