    Help with capacitor choice

    Hi,

Hopefully someone can easily point me in the right direction.

I have a Denon amp that has some bulging caps and has started to switch itself off after a few seconds of being on.

the caps have the following written on them.

    Sanwha
    DL 85 C (M)
    63wv10000uf
    for Audio

    Rough Dimentions are
    6cm tall
    3cm diameter
    1cm Gap between the pins.

I've done some searching, and I'm not sure of the different type of caps. I'm in Australia, so hopefully there's somewhere that ships internationally etc.

    Much appreciated.

    Do you mean SaMwha?

Samwha does not currently list a DL series. Probably discontinued, and their discontinued list does not show them. Perhaps too old? How old is the unit?

Check your dimensions carefully. Approximate measurements won't cut it for the new caps if they have to be mounted tight to each other. Cap dimension measurements are typically given in millimeters.

Try a Nichicon KS (preferred) or the KG series.

    Digi-key doesn't offer KG & is non-stocked on KS & minimum 200 order. LOLz

    Mouser.com

They only show 1 (KS) in stock and 0 on order. arrgh!

    Mouser #: 647-LKS1J103MESC
    Manuf #: LKS1J103MESC

No experience with this company but pointed to by some audio forums for the KG series:

Thanks heaps, that's much better than I could find.

The caps aren't that close together, so it should be fine.
