identify capacitor for MacBook Pro with rare logic board 820-02037-06

    Hi

While messing around with my MacBook Pro, I stupidly pinged off a very small surface mounted component that I’m now trying to identify.
resistance tests show a rising resistance value, indicating a capacitor.

The laptop boots up and runs, however I'm choosing not to use it until I get it fixed.

i can’t see any markings on the capacitor at 10x magnification using a professional jewler's loop.

It seems like there's some damage to the capacitor - one side doesn't have "shiny bits" - can you tell I don't do this for a living!

The board I have is marked 820-02037-06.

I’ve looked at the 820-01700 and there are big physical differences between the two boards at the location of the missing component.

Attached are some photos of the capacitor and where it was "removed" from.

If you can tell me how to identify it then that would be great. Even better if you can tell me what it is!

Many thanks for any help given

Suggest to work with a friendly local cell phone tech and/or EE student with soldering tools and skills. The removed part looks ok to me because the SMD solder pads on the part are still present.

Using flux and desoldering braid, you should be able to clean up the target PCB pads and then solder this part back into place. For some reason, the schematics and boardview files for this exact model are not public. Will hunt around after work at the office here and will post back, if found. Also worth to compare to other logic boards with a similar PCB layout.

It would be truly awesome if you could find the schematic

heres a closeup of what I thought was the damaged side
