    Yamaha RX A-1030

    Hello everyone,
I am a newbie to this forum.I have a Yamaha HTR that is in protect mode
( figure that).I am getting the DS1 message having bypassed the protection
mode state.Since the unit wont power up, is there a way to isolate the bad
amp board ( opened up unit and I see 2 large heatsinks holding 8 transistors)
One on the left, one on the right.Trying to elimate having to test all 16
transistors in this unit. I looked inside and I really cant tell if there is a way
to disconnect the amp boards from the power supply board.

Check for DC offset of each power amplifier output that go to the speaker protection relays.

Since the unit is in protect mode, how can I test dc voltage when the unit wont stay on long
enough for me to get readings on transistors, diodes, resistors? Am I missing something here?

KDM 480W PSU upgrade succes! (opinions?)
            by bauto601
Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....

Yamaha YST-C10 stereo capstans run for 10 min when unit is turned on
            by nzphil
I have a Yamaha YST-C10 mini-stereo that was made around 1990. It has two cassette decks, a CD player and an AM/FM tuner. When it is turned on in tuner mode, the cassette deck capstans normally run for about one second and then the radio will begin to play. Currently, however, the capstans run continuously for about five minutes followed by running intermittently in two second bursts for another five minutes. The radio will play softly when the capstans stop during the intermittent phase. After about 10 minutes of this, the capstans stop completely and all the stereo functions work fine.

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
            by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

Help Needed: Yamaha RX-V485 Network Issue After Firmware Update (WN9711 Error)

            Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue with my Yamaha RX-V485 receiver. During a firmware update, the process failed, and now the USB, Bluetooth, and network functionalities are not working. Occasionally, the receiver displays the error code WN9711.

I came across Yamaha Technical Bulletin No. 0103, which describes a similar issue for models like the RX-V4A, RX-V6A, and RX-A2A. According to the bulletin, the issue can be resolved by shorting soldering points (e.g., J260 for RX-V4A or...

Bose Companion 5 - Unit Powers On then Cuts Off Shortly After
            by nobbnobb1
            Hi guys,

Trying to salvage a Bose Companion 5 computer speaker system that powers off shortly after powering on. It's got a primary USB input (built in DAC) and an aux 3.5mm input. The USB appears to be the primarily source that tells the unit to power on (control pod LED goes green) as the unit has no power switch.

When I first connect power to the unit, plug in the USB, it will play audio nicely for a minute before it drops out and the unit appears to go into standby (control pod LED goes red). It stays in standby and I cannot seem to power it back on without physically...
