I was given a Harmon HK490i receiver years ago and it worked awesome. I was forced to store it for a few years and when I got it back out the left channel was really fussy cutting in and out but if I fiddled with the balance knob I could get it to work fine. I used some air in a can to blow out the balance knob but it did not help. Had to store it again and now the left channel is gone. If I have the volume knob all the way down the right speaker is silent while the left you can hear the input source very faintly (like someone has their headphones up loud across the room) but if I even slightly turn the volume up the left goes out and its all gone. I have the service manual I will attach hopefully someone can help me out.

Re: Harmon Kardon HK490i no output left channel
SUCCESS!!!! Thank you so much Longbow and rhomanski, the deoxit worked wonderfully...took a few treatments and a bunch of working the knob back and forth but it works great now. I went ahead and gave every knob and switch a shot of it and they are all dead silent now! Now all it needs is a dead lamp replacement and she will be shinning like a diamond.Comment

by Sik_6ty_SixxSo like the title says, I have an old Stereo Receiver/Amplifier that I picked up from the goodwill, it's a HH Scott Model A510. When I first got it home it had zero output. Opened it up, notice the fuses are missing. Pop in 2 new fuses (AGC4A 250V) and try again, within 5 seconds the L channel fuse POP! I don't see any visible indications of damage or arc burns on the PCB, no popped resistors or diodes, no burnt traces or blown out caps. So I decide to just try another new fuse, POP. Swapped around my R and L speaker wires, and checked the integrity of all wires and connections. Everything looks...5 Photos

by karatzdiHello,
I know some might say... just buy another one. Sell it as parts..!
So had this AMP for quite some time. Recently I saw light smoke coming out of the AMP. Had my fire extinguisher close by. Just kidding. Turned immediately all devices off from mains.
Let things cool a bit, and opened up the amp device. I clearly saw on the main board which hosts the 5X amp (5.1), 3 10 ohms 1W resistors had their leads looking black, while the rest of the remaining 2 x 10 ohms were brownish as being installed from factory.
Spent some time downloading the Service...-

by sima112Hi guys,
I need a help with my Marantz pm6005. It started to have weaker the right channel a few months ago, than it got back to normal and now it has lost sound completely on the right channel. At the final stage it was loosing the channel for a while and than it returned. After it has disappeared completely I could forced it back by unplugging the source form CD (which I normally use) to phone and back. It would then work for a few minutes and died again. Now it is possible power up and all function works normally (apart the right channel ) on all inputs, except the phone both channel...-

by eccerr0rAnyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.
Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...
Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...-
