    SONY CMT-EH10, HCD-EH10 CD/TUNER/DECK -shuts down on boot up back to standby

    The old man had a SONY CMT-EH10, HCD-EH10 CD/TUNER/DECK -shuts down on boot up back into standby. seemed like some kind of protection, after first powerup, shut down a lot quicker. had a hunch bad caps but not 100% sure, after opening it up nothing visual but crap caps used.

    All 85 degree lelon and FOAI caps, nothing bulged but only about 16 caps so recapped the whole board.

    Fixed the issue, don't have a ESR or Cap meter but quick check of what was removed I had 1 x FOAI 1000uf 16v cap dead short, and a 220uf 10v ca-p with low resistance.

      I have got a Sony HCD-BX7700dbi that isn't worth a lot but I'm keen to learn how to repair and would appreciate some help with my train of thought. The protection circuit is kicking in and the standby light is blinking. It goes into protection mode within a second of powering it on.

      Recently I was given for free a Sony RCD-W3 with the following symptoms, CD recorder drive reads CDs without any issues (haven't tested recording function yet because I don't intend to burn CDs on that machine) but the reader drive shows disc error after some seconds of it trying to read CD. Tried both CD-Rs and commercial audio CDs with same results.

      First thing to do was to clean the lens but that didn't change anything. Googling the issue revealed that this is a common issue on several Sony CD recorder machines and the culprit is SMD electrolytic caps located on the PCB bellow...

      Hello everyone,
      i am trying to repair a Sony KDL-55HX820 led TV which is throwing error code 4 (standby led flashing four times).

      I followed the troubleshooting flowchart at page 69, and between pin1 and pin7 of CN6002 i am reading 1.91V so i guess i can rule out the B Board as the culprit.
      Before ordering new G* Boards (by the way, should i change both? it is not specified in the manual) i wanted to try and do more advanced troubleshooting since i've read in other threads people resolving their problems on the 46/55 HX 820/823/825 models by replacing the Samsung led...

      So I have this Sony VJF152C11N ( Board Number : DA0HKDMB6D0 ) which came to me with no charging issue. The Charging IC was getting hot so replaced it.

      ISL88732 replaced with ISL88731 and also the lower mosfet PQ59 ( NTTFS4C10NTAG ) with a similar N channel mosfet. Now the Charging is fine with 15.7 on BAT+ line but the new problem is that laptop boots till sony logo and then shuts down when battery is connected ( With or without AC adapter )

      What could be causing this is a non compatible IC or FET or poor soldering or some kind of shorting?
