Sony HCD BX7700dbi CMT flashing standby

I have got a Sony HCD-BX7700dbi that isn't worth a lot but I'm keen to learn how to repair and would appreciate some help with my train of thought. The protection circuit is kicking in and the standby light is blinking. It goes into protection mode within a second of powering it on.

So far the relay on the power board that enables the main transformer clicks on and then off when powering on the unit. Looking at the schematics, the permanently enabled power rail called 'unreg sub' provides about 13.5VDC. Where the power comes into the main board on connector CN303, there is a diode D331 and I see a 13.5VDC across that component. Am I correct in thinking that this indicates a short to ground the other side of D331. With the unit powered off there is no short to ground from D331. With my DMM in diode mode looking at npn transistor Q333 which if failed short would provide a path to ground, I am seeing a voltage drop on that transisotr base-collector of 1.6v and base-emitter of 1.1v. Is that good? Can this be measured in circuit?

Also I wanted to verify that the power board wasn't causing any problem and I have measured the voltages supplied by the power board with the relay pin grounded but without any load. Is this a good test? The voltages seem to be stable.

The electrolytic capacitors that I've tested on the board all seem good. There was one that I needed to take out of circuit but otherwise all good including ESR readings. Some of the resistors R425 and R461 are roughly half what they should be but I don't think that is causing the protection mode to kick in.

Any pointers much appreciated. Service manual is attached. Main board is on page 27-29.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

    Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
    by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
    CN6401
    Pin 01 NC
    Pin 02 NC
    Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
    Pin 04 "N/C"
    Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
    Pin 06 "GND": N/C
    Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

ITE IT8390 (IT8390E-256) programmer "ITE Download Board 4" user manual + firmware, flashing ITE ECs on the cheap
    by H34TO
Recently I've gotten into EC flashing due to my broken laptop(s) and started frantically searching methods for flashing the IT5571E-128 chip on the cheap(due to me beaing a student and not having a job) and noticed that ITE newer chips can be flashed via ISP (In-System Programming) either via SMBus or the KBC (EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port) interface. While these can be achieved with programmers like SVOD4/3 or the RT809H/F those options are WAYYY out of my budget so I was horrified. But recently I stumbled uppon some programmers on aliexpress that claim they can program a variety of ITE chips...

Sony Vaio SVS MBX-261 board failure
    by delpiero3
Hi everyone, newcomer in this forum, i watched tons of video from Sorin, i like the way i calmly explain things, i did quite some console repair, i am not that bad at micro-soldering, but troubleshooting where the issue is, is definitely where i still have progress to make. Usually i was able to fix the console because the failure was obvious, or because i was able to find someone with similar measures on the board and was pinpointing what to replace that way.
Nevertheless, let's say, i don't come as a total beginner.
I have this old laptop, which suit perfectly my needs, with the...

Sony KDL-40Z4500 LCD with stripes and 9 blinks (possible BGC board or harness problem
    by huj3r
    Hi there!

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 which shows a colored vertical stripes pattern when turning on, with a central black shadow that slowly dissipates within the first 10 seconds.

Photo of the situation after the black shadow dissipates:

After this behavior the red LED will blink 9 times, then pause for a bit, and blink again 9 times, in a loop.

I checked the manual (available here) and this corresponds to "HFR error", quoting from the manual:

    > This indicates HFR Communication error. [ HFR Communication...
